Not necessarily bad movies, but certainly not nearly as good as they were rated or hyped to be.

What comes at night is never divulged, unless it is boredom. It is basically a movie about a contageous disease (we never know what, how it started, what caused it, etc.) causing distrust among two families that share a living space. But the characters are never truly built up enough for us to really care what happens to them either way. And considering the fact that the main characters ended up being right about their 'guests' being sick, it can hardly be called grim drama when the violence ultimately starts happening, as anyone in the same situation would have probably done the same. -

Slow, dull and aside for a few moments just not very scary. We may take from it the "horrifying" message that fundamentalist religion can lead to tragic and malicious results, but this is hardly original, and if it is something you already know, the movie is hardly thrilling. -

There really is no big difference between the movie version and made-for-tv version other than the budget, violence and casting. The movie version does not have scary moments that really outdo anything we've seen in 1990. -

One of the most overrated movies to come along in years. Hereditary actually does many things right in the first 75 percent of its running time so long as you assume it is really about the psychological demise of a mother/wife and perhaps even their children as well. Unfortunately, that is not what it turns out to be really about, and what it does turn out to be about is just ludicrous, and leads to the conclusion that the plot is rife with elephant sized holes, manipulations of the audience, convenient and lazy ways of not mentioning relevant information until it is expedient, and a downright incomprehensible and silly last 20 minutes. Taking into account what turned out to be the real events that were happening in the story, the movie takes leaps of logic in order to come to predetermined results. But this is just lazy writing and ruined what could otherwise have been a psychological masterpiece. Now it is just a silly cross between "Rosemary's Baby" and "The Exorcist". -

A good movie, but not nearly as involving, interesting or mind-blowing in terms of its visuals as it was made out to be. It is basically "Dreamscape" with a bigger budget. -

I could only manage sitting this through for about 40 minutes before boredom finally got the best of me and i gave up. It is probably "the shit" for people who think its message is awesome for some reason. For me it was just shit, as anti-consumerism (which i gather was its message) is one of the stupidest most time-wasting "ideals" one can get behind.
