Heavens x Candy
was a rather uninspired movie centered around one guy (with the dark hair) who was living with his father and his father's boyfriend. He was withdrawn and didn't talk much and he was also secretly gay.
He eventually meets a guy and they become partners, but to me it just didn't feel like there was much chemistry there and the story was a bit weak.

Young Hearts
is about a young teenager (left) who was leading a perfectly happy straight life with his family; has a good friend group and a girlfriend that everyone likes.
Then one day a new family moves into the house across the street with a gay son the same age. It is not long before the two boys meet and the one begins to realize some stuff about himself and that he might not be so straight after all.
His realization causes him to act out and just basically be difficult to deal with for everyone until he is finally able to admit his feelings to himself and everyone else.
The romance is cute and playful and it captures that feeling of when you first realize you want something more from your best friend and it had a happy ending. The only, kind of, downside - the movie moves at a slow pace and it takes them awhile before they get to the main storyline.

When his family wins a chance to move to the United States he realizes he won't get to meet his boyfriend, so he comes out of the closet and convinces them to stay for an extra month.
However, he faces a sad reality when he finally meets his boyfriend and learns that sometimes people aren't the same in real life as they present themselves online.

Red, White & Royal Blue
I thought was a fairly good movie. While I think the actors did a good job, I thought a bit of the dialogue was more on the juvenile side.
While I did generally like it, it didn't inspire me to read the book it was based on.

Fireworks
was a long movie that invoked different emotions. Spoilers ahead! This is about two young guys who meet and fall in love, but it turns out they both come from homophobic families who work to keep them apart once they are outed.
The guys were really cute together, not just their looks, but the way they acted with each other, I wish they had more time together on film. This was a long movie and basically the first hour is all set up and they really could have cut that down and done more with the guys.
After the families break them up they get back together briefly, but the movie ends when their lives do as they are shot in their sleep just for being gay. A very sad ending.
While this story is fictional, it was inspired by a real event that contributed to the gay rights movement in Italy.

Good Enough: A Modern Musical
a story about two college seniors; one an out reporter and the other a closeted athlete with hopes of joining the NBA.
The basic story plot wasn't a bad one, but the acting in parts of it seemed a little forced. Yes, they had some songs mixed in, which was a bit different, but not bad.
Then there was a subplot with the reporter's best friend that slowed the movie down and really wasn't needed.

Marry My Dead Body
is an action/adventure comedy where a mildly homophobic police officer is forced to marry a gay ghost to solve the ghost's murder so he can go the afterlife.
Well acted and with humor, there was a lot to enjoy. What I didn't like is there were two scenes where the ghost appeared as a zombie and it did not fit the rest of the movie.

May-December-January
tells the story of two best friends, but both have a secret they are keeping from the other.
One is secretly gay and in love with his best friend and on the verge of confessing his feelings, he learns that his best friend is having an affair with his mom.
He wants his mom and best friend to be happy, so he doesn't let on that he knows at first, but when it's discovered that he has a fatal medical problem things get complicated.
It was a fairly good movie, but it was also quite sad too.

My Policeman
is based on a true story. Overall the movie was good, but it was told in three different times with flashbacks, so in the beginning it was problematic figuring out the significance of what they were showing.
Without giving much away, it's about two guys who love each other, but society drives them apart. Complicating this is one of them married a woman who turned out to be quite manipulative, but they don't know it at the time.

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe
perhaps the longest title of a gay film yet.
It's about two young guys who become friends after a chance meeting. In time their relationship evolves into something more complicated.
The good, it's a very good movie and does ultimately have a happy ending although there are some painful hurdles to overcome to get there; the annoying, not long after the guys meet, one leaves for a year and we only see one of the guys reading letters from the other and that really broke up the flow of the movie.

Lie with Me
is a story told in two different times, one as two seniors in high school who fall in love, but their relationship does not last; and the other many years later when one of them returns to the town after becoming a famous writer. [Spoilers Ahead]
The picture of them is when they were in high school and the one on the right left town and became a successful writer and he is invited back to the town 35 years after leaving it to be a speaker for a celebration at a local company.
Now in his fifties, he encounters the son of his high school boyfriend in what he believes a chance encounter. In time he finds out that his former boyfriend passed away tragically a year ago and that the son had deduced that he had a relationship with his father and secretly arranged for him to get the invitation to speak so he could question him about their relationship. When this comes to light, it leads to a confrontation between them.
In time all truths are revealed and the writer gets some answers to questions that he had about what happened decades ago and he and the son part as friends.
It is a thought-provoking story and a fairly good story that deals with unanswered questions and how that shapes you.
It is not a happy story, nor does it have a happy ending, but it is worth watching.

Punch
is the story of a young guy raised by his single, emotionally distant father, to become a boxer. Along the way he befriends the openly gay kid at school and they end up as friends with benefits.
The movie was all right, a little weak at times and as often happens it was supposed to be a story about high school seniors, but the cast was clearly in their mid or late 20's.
It's really about 80% boxing training and about 20% gay content, although never a romance.

My Fake Boyfriend
seemed to miss the mark for me. It wasn't a bad movie, but it didn't really feel like the actors had any real chemistry together either.
Basic story, a gay guy is dating a loser and his straight best friend decides to break them up by creating an AI boyfriend and making it look like the gay guy cheated at first. Then things get out of hand.
I don't want to give away the story, and there were a few plot twists, but it could have been a shorter movie than it was.

Pa-Thirsty
is part of the Gameboys universe, and if you're not familiar with that series, you're missing out on one of the best gay stories ever told. While this movie has a more mature rating, it tells the story of what happens next for Pearl and Achilles after season 2 of Gameboys.
Also a plus, Pearl had her own series that left a few storylines open and this movie also resolves them. Maybe because of the rating they don't promote it as part of the Gameboys universe, but they should, it probably would have gotten more attention.
Basically they take a trip together and both fall for the bi-sexual man and when that is revealed it tests the limits of their friendship.

while marketed towards a gay audience, is not really a gay story.
Spoilers: it's about two young teens that were best friends their whole life, but when they got to middle school other kids thought they were a couple and started teasing them.
The more sensitive boy ingored it, but the other boy was greatly bothered by it and dropped his friend to create a new image for himself.
The more sensitive boy ended his life and the rest of the movie dealt with how others responded to that and the guilt carried by his former friend.
Other than how being labeled as gay can affect someone's life, there was no indication in the movie that either boy was actually not straight.

Sublime
was a little disappointing for me. Billed as the story of a young guy guy who was secretly in love with his best friend since childhood and yes, that is true.
However, the movie hardly dealt with that. Both boys are in a band and the first hour and ten minutes focused just on the band hanging out, practicing and writing songs.
Finally when they do deal with the gay content it's only a few scenes at the end of the movie.
Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a bad movie - but it wasn't much of a gay movie either.

Exploited
kind of took me by surprise as I didn't know it was a story about two gay guys who were both in the closet when the movie started.
They did bill it as a horror story, but it was really more suspence with a 'villain' blackmailing people, although some characters don't make it to the end of the movie.
I will say that I did guess who the bad person was from their first appearance in the film. While it did deal with several gay characters, that was more incidental to the movie and not the main focus

Sisid
it had potential, but fell flat. Spoilers: it's about a marine biologist who is called in to help with a corporate accident that damaged the environment.
Once there he's assigned a young guy to help him. They have a brief affair even though he's married and the assistant has a pregnant girlfriend.
The premise of the movie wasn't bad, but this is a two hour movie and the entire first hour was the guy and his wife traveling to the town, visiting friends and family, touring a friend's business, having a date night, meeting with the town's people and the corporation...you get the idea. Honestly the entire first hour could have been condensed to about three minutes!
The ending was also a waste of time, the wife was terminally ill, she dies and he returns to the town for another meeting and sees the assistant (and his now wife and kid) and tells him he won't be back for a while.

The Perfect David
I watched this as it was billed as a gay movie, but it really wasn't.
It was about a young guy pressured into bodybuilding by his creepy mother to serve as a subject for her artwork.
The movie is about 97% bodybuilding and of that about 90% is in silence, no dialogue.
As for the gay 'content', well there's a scene where he's looking at his laptop and we see a distorted reflection of an undressed man. This was on the screen for less then probably 10 seconds. That's it, that's the entire gay content. No other gay talk, actions or anything.

This was actually a movie made by condensing down an 8 part series into a movie. I only saw the movie and while it was a fairly good film, it did get slow moving at times.

Red Yellow Pink
this movie was billed as a struggle between a gay son and his ultra-religious mother. Meh, kind of...
Yes, the son was gay and his mother finds out and she doesn't react well at all, in fact there is a lot of hostility in one scene, then he leaves home and only sees her two more times afterwards, at which time they don't really talk...so saying that this was the premise of the movie is a bit of an oversell.
It really is more about him coming to terms with living his own life and adjusting to having HIV which his former boyfriend infected him with.
It is a very sad movie with no happy ending and a few plot holes thrown into the mix as well.

They trick the son into returning to Turkey and once there they take his passport and hold him captive and force him to take part in an arranged marriage with a woman.
This leads to a lot of drama and heartbreak, but in the end it does end on a hopeful note.
By the way, the son (left) knew his parents were homophobic, he was in the closet, living with and relying on them for financial support in his mid- to late-20's and decided to march in a pride parade with his boyfriend in the middle of the town where his family lives and then seems surprised when he is outed. while I didn't find it a bad movie, I did feel it was a bit disappointing. It's about two high school guys (although they looked older) where one was coming to terms with being gay and the other seemed straight, but giving off a lot of gay vibes.
The movie was longer than it needed to be and it never really goes anywhere, the guys don't get together, it's more a tale of frustration than of love. At the end it flashes forward about 20 years, but still more of the same.

His
I have to say that this was quite the disappointment. There is a prequel to this movie called His: I didn't think I would fall in love. The prequel was excellent and well worth watching.
This movie is long and to be honest, quite boring at times. It was far too long for the story they had to tell, it was a little over 2 hours, but it should have been much shorter than that. The story wasn't a bad one, but it's just the way they told it.
The basics, without giving away spoilers. The prequel (which I reviewed a while ago) has them getting together when they were about fourteen. The movie opens several years later and one of them wants to break up out of the blue, blindsiding the other guy.
He goes no contact for more than ten years and then returns with his young daughter and expects his ex-boyfriend to house and feed them both and eventually it goes through the divorce and custody battle for his daughter.
The major issue that I have with this, besides the slow pace, is that the entire movie between the guys is based on the one who left regretting it and wanting his boyfriend back. However, at no time during the movie was it ever explained why he left...you keep waiting for an explanation, but it never comes!

is about a young man dealing with a childhood trauma and also coming to terms with being gay.
The story was pretty good, although it doesn't really reveal he was dealing with trauma until the end of the movie, even though it was billed that way.

Happy Endings Sleepover
was different from a lot of other movies in that it had some action to it and it is based on real life events of the writer. I liked that it was different than most and I liked with the sex scene the characters talked about it after - which almost never happens in gay movies and I liked that the gay story was the main story and the rest were subplots. What I didn't like is that the characters made some incredibly stupid choices and put their lives in danger where common sense should have prevailed.

A Wake
is the story of twin brothers where one the the twins died 8 months ago and the surviving one is having dreams where his brother is trying to reach out to him.
It really wasn't a wake, but a memorial service and during the service the question arises as to if the death was an accidental overdose or an intentional one.
They market this toward a gay audience, and yes the twin who died was gay, but that was really only a minor part of the story.
I thought the story was good and well acted. I wish that had given us more back story on the deceased as I think they only scratched the surface of what was going on. The only negative was the twins younger sister. I've seen over 900 movies and she is one of the most obnoxious characters I have ever seen in any genre.
