So hey everyone, thought I'd start a not-too-serious thread in this very serious time . . . a little distraction to lighten the load a little bit:
So about that final climactic battle at Yavin:
We have two more whole movies in the OT devoted to one of the surviving X-Wing pilots, Luke Skywalker, as well as appearances in those next two movies-- as well as extensive fan lore --about the second surviving X-Wing pilot, Wedge Antilles (not to mention he is probably the only minor character in the Star Wars franchise to make it all the way to Episode 9).
So what about the third surviving Alliance fighter pilot, the one who flew the Y-Wing (to be technically correct, in the realm of Star Wars, I believe this type is considered a tactical bomber). As far as I know there is no further story or lore about him/her. What are your thoughts on his (or her) fate? I have my own fan theory, though it is a thoroughly unremarkable one. But I'd like to hear others' thoughts first.
So, what do you think happened with this only other surviving fighter pilot from the Battle of Yavin?

I'm giving this older post of mine a little bump, again, in order to provide a little not-too-serious distraction for our fraught times (though it does appear, with vaccines slowly becoming available, that relief is on the way).
So, does anyone have any thoughts on that Y-Wing pilot? Is there any lore about him/her in the Star Wars universe that I am unaware of?

One of the survivors in such an important battle would be promoted to instructor and leader of new squadron.

You should realize that in the Star Wars universe, every character from Darth Vader to the Stormtrooper you can barely see at the back of the hangar of the new Death Star when the emperor arrives has had their entire back story explored, novels produced, and has a line of action figures.
The character you want is Evaan Verlaine. Or, the alternate Legends version is Keyan Farlander. And no, I have no idea what the difference means.

Touche, AlienFanatic. Point taken.
Thank you for the links. Both of those stories are more interesting than my own theories-- namely, that the pilot in question continued to serve as a fighter pilot through to the end of the Galactic Civil War, retiring shortly after the destruction of the second Death Star; or, alternatively, dying in combat shortly before Episode III, or surviving a little longer and perishing-- as many an Alliance fighter pilot did --during the Battle of Endor, when the Rebels were swarmed by Imperial TIE fighters.
I also like p70b's suggestion above.
