This film's soundtrack is wonderful. And no surprise Ricki Lake became such an instant hit, with how irresistibly terrific and perfect she is in this. Very enjoyable movie, for sure!

I love this movie, too, as it's based on the very popular real after-school Buddy Deane dance show https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Buddy_Deane_Show that existed on Baltimore, MD t.v. for many years, that my 1st cousins (a teen girl and a teen boy) were popular ongoing dancers on. One of the characters in this movie has a names combination that's clearly based on that of my female cousin.

I was always jealous that they didn't have a dance and song studio around here for kids. It looked like they had a blast.

In the movie, the t.v. station's call letters are WZZT. That clearly mimicks real Baltimore station WJZ TV's letters.

That's cool. I wish they would show reruns. I bet your cousins had a blast.
