First test post after getting screwed by IMDb. Wonder how long it will take to get a reply? Anyway, to make it legit, I've probably seen this film more times than any other, except maybe The Blues Brothers. Anyone else?

I adore this movie! I remember the first time I saw in back in the eighties, and I thought "WTF......", as the years go by I just love it more. So as Dr. Lizardo/Lord John Wharfin would say, "Laugh while you can, Monkey Boy!"

The 11 year old version of myself that lives in my brain makes me watch this movie at least twice a year. I love it.

Peter Weller is just so awesome as the perfect good guy that it's hard for me to watch him play a bad guy. The first time I saw him in Star Trek Into Darkness, at first I thought "cool, Buckaroo is the head of StarFleet!" But when it turns out that Weller's character is one of the bad guys my reaction was "OMG! Buckaroo is the bad guy!" I was bummed out about it for weeks.

what do you guys think about the planned reboot as a series?

I don't know. A couple of years ago I heard that Kevin Smith wanted to do some kind of reboot (thank Diety that didn't happen). I might consider giving it a chance, but I'm worried about what would happen. To me it might have the problem ID had: Everyone pretty much loved the original Independence Day movie, but waiting 20 years to do the sequel was a big mistake.

ya the Kevin Smith thing is what I was talking about, as far as I know it's still planned. They are suing the creators for the rights according to articles from November 2016 and plan to make it a series for Amazon
btw fun fact the original idea for the sequel became Big Trouble in Little China

I think Kevin Smith would have done it justice, as I know he's a huge fan, but I'm ultimately pretty pleased that it's not happening. Something about a franchise condensed into a single film installment, that jumps right in and even references other episodes, is befitting a movie like The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai.

Have any of you guys read the Buckaroo Banzi novelization? It was written by Earl Mac Rauch (with a bit of unofficial assistance from Reno). It's great!

@Lucky_Man :😎Have you read the novelization yet, and if so, what did you think of it?

No, I haven't unfortunately. I stopped reading books, for some reason. I bought it, and I know I'll pick it up someday.

I'm glad to hear that you bought the book. I won't spoil it for you, but let me just say that I've read it so many times that I've worn it out and I'm going to order a new copy soon. And always remember, wherever you go, there you are!
