I'm curious....but the Theatrical Cut is what the fans loved and is still cherished by Rocky fans everywhere...why mess with perfection?! If he wants to "add" scenes, fine, don't cut anything out!

Cherished? Rocky IV? It's 80's cheese and generally a lesser film than all three before it. It's fine, I guess, but certainly not what I'd call "cherished."

Rocky IV may not be the best Rocky film but it is something of an 80s classic now I guess for it's music and the back to back montages which give it a great pace. It's almost like watching one extended music video!
I've really no idea why they decided to do this recut though.
Let’s hope the directors cut doesn’t get all serious and try to be something it’s not. I love this movie but it’s also not a very good ‘film’

lol...I used the word "cherished"...yikes! Perhaps you are right. the movie is just a fun cult 80s favorite...hardly in the same league as the Oscar worthy original, but still don't think a recut was warranted.

That's getting close to George Lucas levels of tinkering!
Tread carefully Mr Stallone.
