Discuss Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust

I'm actually quite shocked that they haven't squeezed every drop of blood (yes pun intended) out of the character Vampire Hunter D. Usually when the Japanese get a hit, they have the terrible habit of overexposing it to death. I'm guessing it didn't really make much money but the character is solid. As far as this film is concerned, the animation was fantastic and although the plot wasn't too intriguing, it was good enough to showcase some really cool scenes. I'm actually a fan of the original film that was released some 15 years earlier but I must admit this one is the better one. If you're a fan of adult anime then I highly recommend this one.

Man thanks for the tip! I watched the trailer and loved the animation which seems way ahead of its time. I love the theme of the "hero" being cut from the same mold as the monsters. I've seen this theme in other manga from the 2000s like Sword of the Dark Ones which I always hoped they'd make into an anime. No dice, but it sounds like Vampire Hunter D will scratch that itch 👍

Yep, just like Blade and its the same trope of although he eliminates the menace, people still have distrust and prejudice against the character. Just drives me nuts how dumb people can be but it's very believable. Anyways, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
