At 17:21 Connery says the name Tupolev with the accent on the first syllable, as English speakers are likely to do. Russian and other east European last names ending in -ov or -ev have the accent on the penultimate syllable, like the former world chess champion Topalov, pronounced toPALov, not TOpalov.

But no criticism for the Scottish accent of the Russian submarine captain?

I’m still hung up on Christopher Lloyd’s pronunciation of “jigawatt” from Back to the Future

Point taken, but I think it would be easier to correct the accents on Russian names than to change Connery's accent.

Hell he pronounced Advisory wrong! I think maybe people were afraid to tell him and just went with it.
