I took the leap to see this "oscar winner". Sat through the whole thing. It's bad, real bad. Ironically, the acting is great, especially the first hour, and the camerawork is impressive and different, but after an hour or so, it becomes tiresome. It triggered just a few laughs, just a few, and ultimately was not a likable movie. I was hoping it would redeem itself, but it got even worse at the end. In the middle I thought it was a 2/4 star movie, but I dropped it to a 1/4, or 3/10.
This is arguably the worst movie ever made that had good acting in it. Usually bad acting can make a movie bad. This had good acting but was still bad despite it. Really an awful movie in the end. The first 30 minutes wasn't bad for being different, however, but it became redundant and was very taxing and hard to sit through. Two hours felt like five.

Bad news. I might see this soon. I've heard so much good about it, but after reading your post, I'm wondering how much of it has simply been generated by pretentious, intelligentsia-types who are terribly hostile to the popularity of comicbook movies. There is something to be concerned with about the near dominance of CBMs, but I don't look at those who stand on their soapboxes and say, "They're all garbage" as being brilliant people either.

It sucked. Objectively.
"Oscar winner" in quotes bc the credibility of BP winners in recent years has become suspect. The voting booth is suspect when awarding BP. This movie was horrible.

I watched it. I didn't find it anywhere near as bad as Heisenberg did. The structure made it a bit harder to take in than a typically structured film of the same genres would be... almost no pauses here and I don't recall many dramatic highs or lows. I like this magical realism genre. I gave the film a generous 7/10.
