At a quick glance both titles are fine and staying with the short title should be OK. If another moderator want to take a look just re-open and state your case.

I would like to reiterate. I don't think the shorter title is OK. The full title is "Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)". In the same way that "Dr. Strangelove" is actually "Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb"; or how "Borat" is really "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan"; or even the more recent full title of "Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond - Featuring a Very Special, Contractually Obligated Mention of Tony Clifton". These titles serve the purpose of shedding more light on what each movie is about. Their absurd length is intentionally humorous and adds more character and interest to the movie before the viewer even knows anything about it. Each of my examples, including the main title being discussed, is a joke for the people who are in on it and an intended head-scratcher for those who aren't yet. If you didn't know anything about "Dr. Strangelove", (who made it, what it's about, the genre, etc.) what would sound more interesting? "Dr. Strangelove" or "Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb"? I'm sure you'd think the latter. If someone who had no prior knowledge of the movie heard the title "Birdman", they may think it's simply another comic book superhero movie of some sort. But if they hear "Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)", then they'd surely and immediately understand that it's something different. This person may be someone who has grown tired of the excessive amounts of superhero action schlock in theaters in recent years and may be looking for something with a little more substance—the film's target audience, by the way. So when this person hears "Birdman" they may just roll their eyes and continue on with their day, but if they hear the actual full title as it should be presented, they'll more likely listen and look further into the matter. The creators know this. The full title is important. This is why at many award shows, like The Academy Awards for example, the movie was presented for each nomination as "Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance". It may seem like a small thing, but I feel that the title has just as much significance as the other three movies I've mentioned and I'm willing to bet that the people who made this movie would agree. Why would they have named it that otherwise? Would you exclude "or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb" from the page for Stanley Kubrick's masterful social satire? Of course not. That's the title of the movie. It's a simple fix for you guys and I think it will benefit the site and all of the people who are using it for each movie to have its proper full title. Thank you for considering and I hope you can agree that the film's page will be more complete with this change.

As with all these cases, provide official links to support the title change and someone will investigate. I have previously noted that both titles (short and long) are officially in use, but if they no longer use the short title or if some other moderator want to make a change I won't object.

Well, I think the long title was used in the opening credits unless they changed it. But the credits in the billing blocks (posters, trailers) seems to use the short title.

See previous discussion. Both titles are very much in use.
(Edit: What I mean is that the facts you presented are already taken into consideration!)

The full title is Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance). You can make the point that the short title is fine, but if we are going to use the full title for Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb , we should use the full title here too.

Exactly. Even right now, Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is playing in theaters and this website considers the full title, whereas Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) isn’t properly represented.

Yeah, I'm in favor of using the long title. @lineker ?
