Here, Bluto feigns illness, requiring hospitalized bed rest (and a pretty nurse) ... and Popeye busts him!
Fun Popeye short film, that I grew up occasionally seeing. A fave moment is when in-the-know Popeye shows up, complete with Veronica Lake hair, to comfort (as a pretend [quite ugly!] nurse) bozo Bluto at his bedside.

brat, I never knew (or perhaps I long ago forgot, if I did ever know) the jerk character was later known as Brutus.

That is the name I always used, although I do remember the use of Bluto. I thought that Brutus was much more appropriate.
