the 5 nominees that year were all great. Forest Gump, Pulp Fiction, Quiz Show, Shawshank, and Four Weddings and a Funeral. Well maybe not all great but pretty good movies. Shawshank and Pulp Fiction were the most deserving of all the nominations. Forest Gump was the popular vote. Wasn't necessarily the best picture that year in my opinion. Shawshank Redemption should have won

I think that Quiz Show is the most impressive film of the five but several 1994 movies are better than any of the nominees. It was a pretty strong year.

what other films from 1994 would you put in the category as better than the 5 nominees? Not trying to start an argument. I'm generally curious as I might agree with you on some if I knew what they are

It picked up towards the end. Mad Max: Fury Road is the worst heavily praised movie I've watched.

How much did Miller pay the critics with that big budget of his? And the voters? I agree. Felt like another case of critics paid off and people following it because it just wasn't that good. Decent, but nowhere near the praise.

I agree. I would have ranked them 1-Shawshank, 2-Pulp Fiction, 3- Forrest Gump. I am glad someone brought up Ed Wood as well.
