I loved this movie. Just saw it in 3D IMAX and it was worth every penny. They did an amazing job with the character Alita and between the motion capture, CGI and most importantly the heart and soul that Rosa Salazar put into it, she was the standout in the movie. Now I feel I enjoy a wide variety of cinema from intellectual to silly to unusual to a well crafted formula and I feel I got plenty of decent story, character and and a lot of heart out of this movie. Sure it has amazing visuals and you can tell it was made with 3D in mind but visuals don't save a movie with weak characters, crappy dialog and uninteresting story cough Aquaman. Alita, to me, had none of those problems and the ending felt emotionally right and natural. Not like unfinished business like some have questioned. There are some incredibly touching scenes and Alita's transformation from young, inquisitive girl to bad ass warrior is well done. I hope this movie does well because I want more of this world and definitely more of Alita.

I agree with most of your comment except for the Aquaman comparison..lol. (granted Alita was better, but Aquaman wasn't THAT bad, I'd sooner replace Aquaman with the latter Transformer movies and or Star Wars Ep 1 in there).
I too paid a PREMIUM price to watch this in my local Dolby Atmos theater and MY oh MY...I was completely blown away!!! I think the stupid a$$ critics that downed this movie wanted more explanation about her origins (still a mystery) and some holes that are still within the story, but as an entertainment piece, story telling and use of visuals to TELL said story...WOW! This is the reason we go to the cinema!
Its making decent bank here & overseas...I'm REALLY hoping we do get a sequel. Cameron already said he wanted to make it a trilogy...one can only hope!

Agreed with both of you. Wish more people gave it a chance. It really stands out to me a live Anime done right. Think about all the failed attempts to bring Anime to the big screen, I feel like Alita succeeded.

I only knew about it what I had learned in promo for the movie. Hadn’t read the Manga or seen the OVA. I found it really easy to follow but I’m a sci-fi nut and have watched plenty of other Anime. So maybe at least my brain was set to dive into Alita and go with it.

Have you even seen it?
Its funny, cause I'm the first to rag on Captain Marvel without having seen it...it truly look UNinteresting and have NO desire to pay to see it. For all I know it may be the best superhero movie EVA! Guess I'll have to just wait til its on premium TV.

Hardly... And spoken like a true anime-hater. I heard the negative reviews, but I felt I had to give the movie a chance (as a long-time fan of the "old" manga/anime scene). I was very pleasantly surprised! Sure, it may not be the most amazing story of all time, but it's a movie that is clearly geared towards young adults. The story is entertaining, the plot is believable, the world is made quite enjoyable, and the ending reeks of a sequel (that'll probably never materialize thanks to all the haters on all sides).

Maybe it's because the girl is really doable.
