So I started watching this, liked the first 5-10 minutes quite a bit, then became increasingly weary of where this whole thing was going. Felt like it wasn't going anywhere in particular.
I didn't know I was watching a Malick movie so I started telling myself "Dang this director sure is trying to do a Malick here but maybe he's overdoing it for this particular story? Let's check the running time to see if this can be over with before I lose interest completely."
I wasn't sure I could take more than an hour more of these beautiful but repetitive shots. So I checked the time and I was only 30 minutes in, and saw there was another 200 minutes of movie left! Holy mother of god! I gave up.

the movie runtime is around 164 minutes without end credits, not 230
but yeah, I gave up after 45 minutes, way too slow poetic stuff, same reason I gave up on The tree of life. actually only Malick's movie I finished was Thin Red Line, saw it on premiere in cinema and later at home, but still unnecessary long
seems like OK movie (I would rate probably 6-7/10) for someone who has 3 hours to waste, but I would still rather watch Schindler's list (197min), Heat (172min) or other masterpieces, if you wanna something German I enjoyed Werk ohne Author (189min), which is also very long, but still much more interesting, same goes for slow paced Chinese An Elephant Sitting Still (234 minutes!!!), which has great atmosphere, something ocassionally happens and you would really disrespect director who commited suicide over runtime, if you care about it, after all I think it's the best Chinese movie in decades or for sure in TOP5 in last 20 years

I too enjoyed Thin Red Line Back in the day. The only other Malick film I truly enjoyed besides that is New World.
Edit: Cannot find Werk ohne Author here on TMDB...

When you search in TMDb you 'usually' have to type in the correct complete title: Werk ohne Autor (Original German) or Never Look Away (English). Unlike Google and IMDb it (often) doesn't make any - possible - suggestions if you misspell or make some other mistake in the title. It's interesting that when you leave out word(s) - just type in one or more words, but not the complete title - it might suggest one or more possible titles.
