He's referring to the murder of Maureen. And, like he says, he only gave him guidance, which means he was not directly involved in her murder. He certainly was not involved in the murder spree a year later, he even says he had "no idea that they were gonna make a film of their own."

Why do people think Stu killed Casey and Steve? It was clearly a double-act - they had to carry Steve in his chair, and hoist Casey up the tree with the swing ropes. I imagine Billy does most the talking while Stu does the gutting so perhaps it figures that Stu slashed Steve's belly.
Did Williamson elaborate on why he said Stu killed Casey?

No, he never did, but I assume he feels it's more personal and dramatic if he killed her. I think most actually agree that Billy was there as well, but that doesn't mean he did any of the killing. Like you said, he seems to be the one who did most of the talking.
