I agree, it probably should be. I'm sure twenty years from now we'll be getting Halloween H60 with an 80-something Laurie and 80-something Michael Myers, both using walkers and trying to kill each other with canes.😂😂
Oddly enough, THAT name (Halloween H40) as well as Halloween Returns were potential names for this movie...but filmmakers decided to just name it Halloween...I personally don't like the H40 because then its almost associating itself with H20 (which it doesn't).
To tell the truth i haven't seen any of these movies beyond Halloween 1&2. I do consider the original Halloween to be the best in the slasher genre. Mainly its not completely predictable and out side of Ash Williams from the Evil Dead, it actually has an interesting protagonists.
Because it ignores every Halloween movie except 1 and 2. Just watched it. I'm serious, nothing but 1 and 2 is ever referenced in this movie (even H20 is completely ignored). Michael Myers has spent the entire time between in an insane asylum. The title should have been Halloween 3 (if they hadn't already used the Halloween 3 title)
Well Halloween H20 came out exactly 20 years after the original. Which ill grant you was a stupid title. Especially since H20 was the chemical signature for water. I remember MST3k calling it "Halloween Water". But i can understand why some people would expect a movie that came out exactly 40 years after the original would be called Halloween H40. Besides naming your movie right after the original when not a remake, has become a huge cliche. It should at least had a subtitle. Maybe "Laurie Revenge" or some shit like that.
Anything would be better than the name they gave it. I hate when these new things come out, and the name is just the same as the original title. Stuff like Mortal Kombat, God of War, The Karate Kid, Robocop, Nightmare on Elm Street, etc. just annoy me when there are already multiple sequels that exist. They just name the new movie the same as the original, so when you try to look it up, it's more confusing than it needs to be. Damn it. Why do companies do this stuff?

The worst example IMO is 'The Thing'...the prequel is called the SAME as the John Carpenter movie of the same name...

Yes, I always thought that was idiotic, just like with this new Halloween.👍

Actually it ignores everything after part 1. So only the first movie counts. The writers, producers, and director have been pretty open about this actually and mention it in interviews. According to this, writer David Gordon Green wasn't convinced until the door to door sequence. Co-writer Danny McBride was quoted as saying "I was pushing for that removal right off the bat. I just felt like that was an area where he wasn’t quite as scary anymore, it seemed too personalized. I wasn’t as afraid of Michael Myers anymore because I’m not his f***ing brother so he’s not coming after me." In fact that weirdo doctor said Myers was caught after falling out that window, which happened in the first film, not fished out of a hospital explosion which is how part 2 ended.
I imagine if part 2 wasn't the start of the sibling angle (TV edit of part 1 aside) it might have stayed in continuity.

Yeah, I read that, but also noticed they had nods to the 2nd (with the gas fire, the lady in a red robe making a sandwich, and the woman on the phone being warned about a killer on the loose ) and 3rd film (Silver Shamrock Halloween masks) regardless.
If you didn't already see it, I urge you to watch the Honest Trailer for Halloween HERE, makes fun of the how many movies are called 'Halloween' as well as how many part 2's their are in the series as well...funny stuff!!

This was good stuff. Off topic a bit, but I thought the one for Jurassic Park was well done too, and hilarious.
