A pleasant surprise. Been waiting for this since the early screenings. Cast are all good and a the location is top notch.
I just finished the novel(a book i would recommend) The first 200 pages of this book are some of the creepiest I've read in a long time. There's this irresistible slow build that sucks you in to the primeval environment. But then a change of pace in the part two. Still creepy but a kind of cheesy and repetive.
Either way early February this will be on my top 5 horror movies of 2018.

I agree, I seldom watch this kind of movies but the Netflix trailer caught my eyes..glad I gave it a go, it was enjoyable. I liked the dynamics of the characters and the actors were pretty good at it.

Agree as well, I liked it.
Mix of Blair Witch, The Wickerman and Trolljegeren (Troll Hunter).

Agree as well, very atmospheric and creepy, the forest is great setting for a horror.

I never heard of "The Ritual" before but came across it on Netflix and the trailer made me curious and watched that night. Pleasant (and creepy) surprise.

I used to hate Netflix when I'd go looking for a particular movie and they didn't have it. BUT, for stumbling upon some gem you'd never heard of before, Netflix is great. Movies that would never have a chance to get big screen time can run in Netflix and get some exposure.

Also agree, hugely underrated British horror film using suspense and grotesque idolatry as the root of its terror. The symbolism and metaphors are a little too on the nose at times, and the script can be gratingly vituperative, but overall this is enjoyable, edge of the seat stuff.

Bonus points for "vituperative"!
