I really like Ethan Hawke, and have enjoyed other films from A24 Films, but this film was just...bad. It tried so hard to make the case that it knew what it was talking about, but repeatedly undermined its own credibility through awkward and clumsy writing/acting. At several points it was so cliche as to become simply unbelievable.
I was really expecting something good and challenging, which is why this film disappointed. Too bad.
