Is this the Mortal Kombat Conquest story?

I read a breakdown of the plot and it said that after defeating Shang Tsung Kung Lao has to train new fighters to defend Earth from Invasion.That kinda sounds like the Mortal Kombat Conquest story.Is this the Mortal Kombat Conquest story?

No, I don't think it followed any Mortal Kombat game. Hell, there wasn't even a tournament, and I don't remember the main character, Cole Young, being in any game.
I don't get the Mortal Wokeness thing? Sonya was a side character at best, and only really fought Kano. Most of the movie, she just spent being told over and over again that she didn't belong by almost every one of the characters.
