From the first minute to the last, I was totally hooked on the powerful performance by Joaquin Phoenix, from the pitiful clown to the Joker. Great script collaboration between Director Todd Phillips & Scott Silver. Even some winks to Martin Sheen in Apocalypse Now. Unmissable.

Really? OK, I'll take you're word on that. I thought it was an interesting take on pre-Batman. As an aspiring screenwriter, in your opinion what was the problem with the character, if there was one? Do you agree that it was a great performance from Joaquin Phoenix? Thanks.

Personally, I didn't see a whole lot of point in tying in the Bruce Wayne-as-a-child character to the storyline except: 1.) Using him and his life to contrast against Joker's life as proof of the Waynes' inequities, wrongdoings and so on, and 2.) Setting him up to possibly use in future Joker sequels.
