Anyone read the book?

I had to read it in high school and rediscovered it a couple of years ago, enjoying much more the second time. It's quite different from the film but the essence of the characters, particularly McMurphy, are similar.

I just saw this in the trivia.
Kirk Douglas first encountered the book in galley form in 1961. He instantly fell in love with it and secured the rights at the first opportunity
