No. She was talking to him, "25 years ago", when he was a kid, through the TV. At the time she was talking to his kid self, he was an adult, in her present world.

All the quirks of the movie aside, I find it strange that there is at one point the “November 9 time tunnel” expert... And also that however things go, the child always becomes a police inspector. His life should have been different in the two stories.
