I was even more surprised to see that the director is that Hot Tub Time Machine actor. The movie dialog was clear indication it was written by an author, there are not many screenwriters that can write people talking this way and they would not write this script. But the direction didn't feel young, I thought it's someone older and not an actor. So good job on that one. The actors and acting were also great, casting director was able to pull quite a team here.
I liked the movie, although the ending was rushed a bit like we needed 10 more minutes to tie everything up with better pace. It's like he was so enjoying telling a story and suddenly realized he needed to go somewhere so he wrapped it up quickly. Good stuff anyway.
He doesn't quite look like a Clarke Duke, but danged if he doesn't have the confidence and swagger of a Clarke Duke.
It made sense at the very end when Kyle told Johnna he'd been raised with 40 sisters and was used to lots of female attention.
He said in the SPecial Features 'Making Arkansas' clip that he'd bout the book rights because Frog reminded him of his Grandfather, who was some notorious gangster type. Who'd a thunk it? His character was a charming surprise, and I really look forward to more (directorial) from him in the future. In the spec-feat someone noted that it had a Coen Bros feel to it. High praise I think, and deserving.
