Ready or Not clearly fancies itself as a kind of cross between Succession and Eden Lake. But lacks the balls of either.
The heroine tends to escape danger repeatedly through blundering luck rather than using her wits and outsmarting her pursuers. While said pursuers are incredibly inept and most not even sure they want to hunt her. So there's never any real sense of threat or tension. An absence which isn't made up for by the desperate attempts at back comedy peppered throughout.
And the film feels over before it's even begun, the actual core hunt of the film being over pretty quickly, never giving enough time to ratchet up the intensity. Merely leaving us with a ridiculous ending that feels like it's from a completely different film.
I admit I seem to be in the minority but I'm baffled by this film's positive response.

So Im on the opposite side with this one. I thought it was dark, intense, and funny. Everyone did a great job, especially Weaving, she hit all the emotional marks. Must have been hard to constantly be on edge and on a breaking point constantly. I thought the tension and atmosphere was amazing. Its a shame they didnt have a bigger budget, but I think it actually helped them, made it more intimate IMO.
The characters all had an angle, some had more of a background than others. Seeing how far some people would go to protect their life style. The brother dynamic was great and the twist at the end was predictable, at least to me. Good compact film and every character goes thru a little arch. Tongue in cheek for sure. I actually wish we had more films like this honestly.

Most seemed pretty sure they wanted to hunt her, especially since it was a long standing tradition with the family with a known penalty for not carrying out the kill.

What? All the pursuers were 100% intended to hunt her. Only before the real hunt begins some of them are a bit off but then when it starts it really starts.
I liked this movie a lot but I was a bit disappointed they didn't use the house indoors scenario in its full potential.

From what I remember, they filmed most of the film in a real mansion. So it must have been constricting in someways since they couldnt move around like a set.

They're arguing with each other and faffing about and whinging. And I don't necessarily have a problem with that. It can be part of the drama if done well. But in this case the "some of them are a bit off" took up most of the screen time of the hunt. And seen as said hunt lasted all of five minutes that didn't leave an awful lot of time for the kind of excitement and tension that you'd expect from a film about a hunt. There didn't seem to feel like there was an awful lot of danger for our heroine because you could always feel safe in the knowledge that any villain who caught her would always slip on a banana peel or step on a rake.
As I've already noted: the film has been well received and the fact that I don't like it is not a popular opinion. I can live with that.

But they should have tried to bypass that problem.
They go outside the house way too early.

All of them, exception to the tother brother, did want to hunt her since the beginning. The fat guy makes some statements about it being boring and that he should be in other place but he knew he had to kill her.
Except for that part and the other brother nobody had doubts about killing her.

My memory of it is pretty hazy, it's been a while since I saw it now. But I do vaguely remember the heroine being able to escape because a woman couldn't bring herself to kill her, she started breaking down because of the whole situation and that led to a big ensuing argument between all the hunters. So at the very least there was one other character other than the ones you mentioned. You say "since the beginning". And yeah, I'm sure they all did at the beginning. But I'm talking about during the hunt. A lot of the hunters fell to pieces and couldn't go through with it. So they all ended up bickering and falling over each other.

Not really.
Before the hunt her mother-in-law didn't want her to enter in the game and didn't want to kill her, her husband the same thing, however when the hunt started everyone was clearly gonna kill her, except the other brother who wanted her at least to have some time advantage.
The reason they didn't kill her was because they were all a big bunch of incompetent fools while the heroine just outsmarted them... rather easily.
The girl who struggled to kill her according to you is probably the maid who got killed by accident or the other woman who kept missing all the shots due to her awfulness at using guns.

Well, I can't really remember the film very well now, so I wouldn't really be able to discuss that.
That's exactly one of the things I'm saying. That's what I didn't like about it. There was no tension from this. The heroine didn't need to be capable.

But there was tension. The hunters were incompetent but we only get the full view of their incompetence during the movie not right from the beginning, so there's tension.
And don't forget they aren't exactly supposed to be great hunters. They have done this hunting game only twice in decades.
