I thought the films did alright. And I know for a fact that the films' director, Tim Story, was at one point, the biggest grossing African-American director, period.
Fantastic cast who can act. Actors who have chemistry and act like they care about one another, plus a great villian who can be the true arch rival for the FF.
Fantastic story that extend beyond mindless summer fare. Character development would be good.
Fantastic director who understands the source material, works well with his cast, and will pour everything into making an epic movie.
Fantastic special effects and CGI. This is often sacrificed when a movie is on a limited budget. I say if you're going to do it, you'd better do it right. Cheap ass F/X no longer fly when the bar has been set so high with other comicbook movies.

That's the biggest flaw with this movie IMO. I had higher hopes for the second movie after the last scene with the boat going to Latveria, but we never really got the real Doctor Doom.
I thought the general dynamic between Johnny and Ben was pretty good. But I never got the vibe that Reed was a real genius, and I didn't think there was much chemistry between him and Sue. That aside, I didn't think there was enough action in the movie. It was like they were constrained by the budget. I would have liked to have seen them using their powers more in clever ways. There was really just that big fight at the end.

Disney branding. Everyone will automatically give it a pass when it's a Disney Marvel movie.
