Was obviously supposed to be Dorothy Lamour

She looked very much like Lamour (like when Charlita did "Bela Lugosi meets a Brooklyn gorilla"). She even dressed like Lamour. This highly attractive brunette hailed from Lowell, Mass. Only about 7 miles from my hometown of Lawrence. I had family too in Lowell. Never knew anyone who knew her.

I don't recall ever seeing Charlita in any old movie I've viewed, but totally agree with you that clearly she appears to have been intended as a knockoff of Dorothy Lamour. IMO (judging solely by Charlita's 2 posted present TMDb profile pictures), Lamour was the somewhat more striking and beautiful...though it was probably a close call.
Btw, according to IMDb, "Charlita" was born Clara Isabella DeFreitas. So, she had a made up professional name, as also Lamour (born Mary Leta Dorothy Slaton [though with a childhood stepfather with surname Lambour]) did.
