Many have tried, few succeed. Everyone has to work the system now( terrible phrasing, I know). Ariana Grande had to work for Nick for a few years, and she'll never be on Beyonce's level. I'd love to see someone come from nowhere, but not even Beyonce or Britney came from nowhere.

In the eyes of the GP, Britney came from nowhere. Gaga too.

Britney basically came from nowhere, she was on the Mickey Mouse club, but just think of how many Mickey Mouse alums didn't make it big, being there is not the same as being on a big Nickelodeon show(that's Ari's case) that can boost your popularity a lot, Britney started her music carreer on the unsucessful Innosense and she quickly got out(she didn't even spent a full year as a member), she went solo quickly and Innosense didn't help her in anything, that's different from Beyonce and JT, they came from sucessful 90s bands and went solo, i mean what was Innosense compared to DC and Nsync, Britney made it on her own with lots of competition.
I feel like Adele (not traditionally pop however) came from nowhere. while I'm happy with our pop girls, I do wish another celeb would come along and snatch weaves and toupees alike. Give me a single, give me an album - ANYTHING.

But Adele didn't became a superstar on her first album, she got some fame for 19 and a Grammy, but only after 21 she became a sucess.
Gaga, yes. Britney, no. But I see what you mean, and you're right.
Erm Gaga spent years releasing EPs and doing reality tv before she had her breakthrough. Baby One More Time was Britney's first ever record and it was a massive success.

No one knew Britney or Gaga. Everyone has a past for obvious reasons, but in the eyes of the public, Britney wasn't famous before BOMT, most people saw her for the first time then. Same with Gaga.
You can't say the same about Ariana or Miley, who were very famous celebs prior to getting a breakthrough in music. Adele became successful when she dropped her second LP, so it's not the same either.
Britney, Gaga, Avril Lavigne, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera. People that became a big success (in some cases MASSIVE) during their DEBUT era and then kept on having success. That's what I mean.
When will we have another one of those???? It seems this industry today doesn't promote someone unless they're already a success in another area. That's how it looks like from where I'm looking.

I'm not so sure it will happen. Look at the modeling industry, it's all about how many Instagram followers you have.

What's your point?
That Gaga had been a struggling artist for years before her breakthrough and Britney was only 17 when she achieved mammoth success with BOMT so stop creating double standards.
