DevilYouKnow replied Jul 1, 2013 Yeah, he was pretty bad. Haven't seen his other films so unsure if he's gotten better. http://werewolvesbeatingadeadhorse.blogspot.com/
periwinkle_yaaay replied Nov 21, 2015 1,000 percent agree. I'm sure he's a nice fellow and all, but Marcus Thomas could not act his way out of a paper bag with a flashlight and a machete. I just saw him in The Forger and was shocked that he's still getting work. Less shocked when the end credits rolled and Al Corley's name popped up as a producer. For whatever reason, Corley appears to be this guy's personal benefactor.
Al Corley has been a producer on every film in which Marcus Thomas has appeared, with two exceptions: an obscure German movie 15 years ago and Bigger Than the Sky, which Corley DIRECTED and allowed Thomas to bumble his way through as the freaking lead! So if you're wondering how someone this consistently charmless on-screen can turn up in numerous otherwise legitimate projects, that seems to be the explanation.
audrastia replied Sep 8, 2016 Al was a producer on the one he directed too! Seems like Marcus may be Al's benefactor.
Marcus is the son of a Willy Strothotte from the corporation Glencore (lots of articles on their union, pollution and human rights issues).
The ONLY U.S. films he works on films are produced by Bart Rosenblatt and Al Corley. The films do little to nothing at the box office but they are still around. Interesting, no?
Jaydogg1994 replied Dec 8, 2016 I liked him in Drowning Mona, haven't seen him in anything else though.
cmbrower replied Jan 25, 2017 That is exactly why I came to this page! I've been watching Marcus in 2008's "Bigger Than the Sky" for 30 minutes now... just waiting for this "actor" to snap out of it..??? but he never did. However, to add to my confusion, this movie has him cast in a role where he's playing a horrible, inexperienced, rookie actor (yep!) who somehow landed the lead role in a small community staged play of Cyrano...that's the whole plot of this movie!! So I couldn't tell at first. Totally ironic that he really IS all those things...except rookie!? I couldn't take it any longer after 1/2 hour and decided to look him up here to see what others thought about him. Glad to see it's not just me who feels this way about Marcus. Ughhhhhh awful! Cannot believe he is still getting roles either until I read the other posts. Afterall, his father is a billionaire and I imagine he just wants to make his son happy...whatever the cost!
cmbrower replied Jan 25, 2017 So sorry...it was 2005 Bigger Than the Sky movie; not 2008
