Yes. Truly a key figure in creating an integral part of the soundtrack of the '50s through '80s. Bacharach's songs were, indeed, unique, as well as intelligent, poignant, beautiful, etc. Hearing some of them now brings back so very many memories from my youth through early adulthood years.

I didn't realize he wrote "Close to You" sung by Karen Carpenter. I love that era, when pop music had style & elegance. RIP to one of the architects.
