Hi TMDB team,
I’d like to propose the addition of new optional attributes to both movie and TV episode objects in the API, in order to provide more detailed playback metadata. This is especially useful for developers building streaming platforms or smart media players.
Here’s the suggested structure:
recap_start_time
(float, in seconds): when the recap of the previous episodes startrecap_end_time
(float): when the recap endsopening_credits_start_time
(float): start time of the opening creditsopening_credits_end_time
(float): end time of the opening creditsend_credits_start_time
(float): start time of the ending creditsend_credits_end_time
(float): end time of the ending creditsThese fields could be filled either by contributors or via automated analysis tools.
Use case:
Would love to hear your thoughts on whether this could fit into the TMDB model.
Thanks for the amazing work!
Best regards,
CinéPlus

Hi TMDb team,
I’m following up on this suggestion I posted over two months ago regarding the addition of optional playback metadata fields (such as recap and credits timestamps) for movies and TV episodes.
I believe this could be a valuable addition for developers working on streaming platforms, accessibility tools, or AI-based content analysis. I'd really appreciate any feedback on whether this fits within TMDb’s data model or roadmap.
Thanks again for your time and for all the great work you do!
Best regards, CinéPlus
