I've tried to map my files to actual svengoolie seasons and episodes, and create missing entries in TVDB, both to enhance the community and avoid creating NFOs for everything.
But several issues exist: 1) At MeTV faq, Rich Koz explains the intricacies of getting rights to the movies he presents. The contracts sometimes have rules requiring them to repeat shows. According to epguide.com, for instance, Dracula's Daughter was shown in season 12 and episode 13, as well as season 17 episode 2. I know TV Maze is crowd sourced (from my Kodi Add-On), possibly epguides is too, and so the season and episodes relate to where the viewer saw them.
2) IMDB often has different season/episode numbering than epguides, possible IMDB is the correct identification? 3) Are the repeats simply the same movies but with different sketches and jokes? Or are they identical? Should they be entered twice or more? This will cause problems with scrapers, I think, but possibly not.

I just noticed - having completed an episode all the way to the end - The copyright year is displayed at the end. Hence giving me the year.

Warning : the copyright year is generally the production year, not the broadcast year.
When an episode is broadcasted multiple times, we only take in account the first broadcast.
TVMaze, epguides and IMDB are all user-edited database.

Can you recommend a source for accurate broadcast years?

I can't answer specifically for this show that I don't know. But, generally, the best source are the archives of the website of the original broadcaster and the newspapers of that time.
