Discuss Dexter: New Blood

Oh man. Right out of the gate we got climate change protests. We got some gay guys. A black guy. A chick who is part American Indian. All of the things you will not find in a town like this, except maybe the American Indian chick.

Only 8 episodes...not a good sign for the future. EDIT: 10 episodes according to IMDB.

Jeez...I just read the reviews on IMDB. Seems I'm not alone commenting on the wokeness...

What a huge fu..kn narcissist. Just because a bunch of people who share your bigotry agree with doesn't make you right. How many, by your logic, towns from NY have serial killers? You know, just so that we gauge the realism.

Anyone saying a show about a hero serial killer is woke really needs to check himself! Lol

Somehow I can imagine that though. Like, all the killers Dexter kills have maga hats in their house or refuse to get vaccinated or make memes.

God that would be the dumbest shit ever.

My train of thought: When the first Dexter show it ended showing he was a lumberjack. And I **assumed **Washington state or somewhere. Then when the new show started my mind was set on that location - even though he was a store manager not a lumberjack. It wasn't until this thread then looking at license plates I realized it was upstate NY. I do like that they tackled murders of native American women. A sad problem that does exist. BTW I'm in Atlanta where we are substituted for all parts of the US when filming. We affectionately call Atlanta Y'allywood.

That's actually a fair assumption Felix. Largely because people think of the massive forests of some of the western States. (And western Provinces in Canada.)

But there is a lot of logging done in NY State. There are stringent rules on logging in the Adirondack and Catskill State Parks but outside of those, most areas can be, and are, logged. And there are pretty impressive forests all over NY State, especially upstate NY. I'm having a lot of over-matured pine logged on my own property near Unadilla.

Now this is one of the funniest comments I've read in quite awhile!

Pointing out wokeness isn't bigotry.

Responding a little late, I know, but just recently got the season on disc, and watched in a couple of days. So disappointing! Waited for eight long years to see more, and this is what we got? I'd rather still be waiting! On the woke issues, yeah, they're through the whole thing. Your points: • climate change protests - with no relation whatsoever to the plot of the season • gay guys - again, no relation to the rest of the show, other than one being a mostly invisible boss • a black guy - for what purpose? Those who've seen the whole thing know, and yeah, about s "woke" as you can get • a chick who is part American Indian - as the head cop in town. No reason for that or other related elements except to push victimization as an agenda. Additional points of my own: • Every "bad" character is white. • No "good" characters are white and straight.

Toss in that they abandoned pretty much everything about the main character, and we get what e got; a mess that I'd be happier never having seen.
