I am almost embarrassed - I have heard so many good things about the show and I am finally sitting down to watch. I can't believe the number of actors in it ... even Geri Jewel!
I agree. It is one of the best TV shows I've seen. I thought 3 seasons was right for it. Stretching it out for further seasons would likely have resulted in slipping seasons.
It has some faults tho. Things like Farnam being paid 200k for his hotel and deciding to stick around when people are being shot left right and centre and his new boss spits in his mouth. To put that in perspective, the average American man made about $2 a day in that period. So the price for that hotel was the equivalent of over 300 years of work or 4 million dollars in today's money. Same deal with the prices for drinks etc. No doubt price gouging was rampant in these frontier camps, but 2 days pay for sex with a prostitute and similar prices for booze, seems incredible to me.

Jack McCall: Should we shake hands or something, relieve the atmosphere? I mean how stupid do you think I am?
Wild Bill Hickok: I don't know. I just met you.
