...National Wine Day!
National Wine Day is an annual feast celebrated on May 25th of every year.
I think it's so great that Penny has her on holiday! The best part is (and I quote): "you need not excuse yourself to have a glass of wine or perhaps some glasses of wine."
Enjoy!

I agree, "be nice & say thank you" is the way to go. Only thing...people look at you
when you talk to yourself.

I have a love/hate relationship with 'self checkout'. I love that it is quicker, I can pack my bags better than the cashier/baggers, & less germ transfer! But depending on the store, some have systems that are too sensitive & being scolded by an anonymous voice is beyond annoying!
Today is:

I forgot yesterday:

I prefer the NO NUTS option & I like to add a little ground coriander.

Quite a few interesting comments under many of these discussions about โself-checkoutโ. One of my favorites:
โI was asked in a checkout if I needed help, said yeah... I'm gonna need to take a break after working here...Can you point me in the direction of the break room?โ
After...
--Opening boxes in the aisles to dig out merchandise because there is none on the shelf--
--Checking out your purchases--
--Packing your own bagsโ
Yeah! Think this person is spot-on when it comes the "working here" part!
Not to mentioned the innocent victims who have been...flagged...humiliated...embarrassed...arrested...financially burdened...etc. for making a mistake/having a machine that malfunctions during their transaction. (Yes, I know the crooks are busy...a discussion for another time?...but I'm not talking about them.)

To paraphrase...
...and if you canโt be a good example, then youโll just have to be the horrible example others learn from.

...International Women's Day 2024 - Friday, March 8th
2024 Theme: โInspire Inclusionโ
International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. (IWD)
Had trouble finding โthe rightโ quote for the occasion. Wanted something that fit into a category other than the usual โStrongโ โPowerfulโ โInspirationalโ quotes for/by women. They mostly sound preachy-preachy and as if someone is โtalking downโ to someone. Finally found a list from โUSA Todayโ titled: โfamous quotes from famous women that stand the test of timeโ:
"We realize the importance of our voices only when we are silenced." โ Malala Yousafzai

"I raise up my voice - not so I can shout, but so that those without a voice can be heard."
Malala Yousafzai
"No country can ever truly flourish if it stifles the potential of its women."
Michelle Obama
I have these two on my refrigerator!
