The Golden Palace

I didn't hate The Golden Palace, but part of me doesn't understand why it ever existed. I know Bea wanted to leave the series following season 7, but I don't understand why they didn't just continue the series with Sophia, Blanche and Rose or add in a 4th new cast member? It seems like that would have made more sense than the spinoff.

Viewership & ratings were plummeting by the seventh season and losing Dorothy would spell disaster for the show. It may have been their only chance of going on by changing the settings up to see if it could survive
