The whereabouts of a missing elderly resident of Albert Square is revealed. Arthur and Pauline have a secret that they won’t be able to keep for long. There is trouble in the Queen Victoria pub.

It's Den and Angie's wedding anniversary. Pauline and Arthur's secret is a secret no more. After Reg's death, the police starts investigating it as a murder.

The police conducts interviews about Reg's murder. Dan has to admit that he was with his mistress at the time of the murder. Ali and Lou are both lucky at games of chance.

Sue tries to get Tony to participate in a money making scheme. Mark is broke and tries to steal from Dr. Legg. After Lofty and Angie kiss in public, Dan is pissed and threatens Lofty.

Lou is made an offer she finds easy to refuse and there is a new arrival in the Square.

Detective Sergeant Rich questions Mark about a German badge that he sold to Lofty, which belonged to Reg Cox.

After Ali apologizes to Dan, Ali is allowed again to enter the 'Vic'.

Pete helps Den to get a night off from Angie, so that Den can use this excuse to see his mistress.

After Nick sells some stolen goods to Kevin, Det. Sgt. Rich finds out about it. Angie finds out that the story about the Bentley Den used to get the night off is not true.

Saeed's shop has been broken into, but he refuses to let the police handle it. Ali get's mugged and beaten up.

Citizens of the Square take matters into their own hands.

Nick disappears when the police uncover new evidence.

Ethel babysits for Mary with frightening results.

Mary is in a panic and everyone joins the search. Den cements plans for his holiday and competition between Michelle and Sharon for Kelvin's affections heats up. Pete is unhappy with Ian’s career plans.

Mary is unwell and people are starting to notice. Ange and Den are worried about the Vic's bottom line, but they can't agree on how to boost business. Ange eventually sends Den off to check out a strip act. Pauline leads Naima astray, Debbie upsets Mary and Ian finally snaps.

Nick is on the news. Lou has come around to the idea of a holiday and Den is determined to get away to Spain for a week. Naima and Saeed are getting along better. Dr Legg tries to help Mary get better accommodation, and finds out something that bothers him. Lou comforts Ian.

Ali gets a happy surprise. Dr Legg counsels Lofty to be a better neighbour and voices concerns about the future of Albert Square. Lou's talk with Pete and Kath doesn't go the way she expected. Sue is getting fed up with all the calls for Ali at the Cafe.

Lou is up to her old tricks, but Pete and Kath turn the tables. Lofty spends more time with Mary and Annie. Debbie and Andy start planning a campaign. Pauline and Arthur celebrate having time to themselves and Den offers Arthur a week's work while he is away.

The kids all head back to school, some less willing than others, but Mark is still nowhere to be found. Lofty's latest purchase causes a few giggles and Ethel's first go at cooking for the Vic doesn't quite go as planned. Den is away and Ange takes the flirting with one particular customer to a new level. Saeed impressess Naima.

Den gets caught out and Angie organises an evening out. Mary is getting desperate for money and Den tells Angie he has to spend another week in Spain. The identity of the prank caller to the cafe is revealed and Ali's latest trip to the races causes more problems for him & Sue.

Ali is told who's been calling the cafe - but he daren't tell Sue who it is. Lou and Michelle return. Mary gets some work and it's Angie's turn to get caught out. Ethel's pies cause a stir and the Fowler's call the police.

Angie decides to ban Ethel from cooking at the Vic and wants Ian to do it. Deb is in anxiety about what to serve Sayeed and Naima at the dinner she has invited them to. Lofty spends the night at Mary’s. Den is due back but Tony doesn’t want things to change. Ethel predicts that Mark will never come home. Sharon decides to confront Angie about her behaviour while Den has been away but Angie gives her some home truths about Den.

Lou is unwell but keeping Arthur on his toes. Den arrives back at the Vic, but doesn’t get the welcome he was expecting. Michelle gets a taste of her own medicine and a lie is revealed. Someone comes looking for Mary. New information gets the ‘Save Our Square’ committee mobilised again.

Kath celebrates her birthday. The stranger looking for Mary is still hanging around. Ian’s cooking is well appreciated. Michelle has started work. Lou starts doing her own research into what is wrong with her – much to the amusement of others. Sharon is upset about Den and Angie’s goings ons. Ian’s film night surprises everyone.

Den smells a rat. The identity of the stranger is revealed. Michelle is furious at Ian and Kelvin over the ‘Chaz’ incident, but Kelvin’s explanation placates her. Everyone finally takes Lou serious about being ill. Mary blames Lofty for being found. Den and Angie come clean with each other and Den reveals more than Angie wants to hear.

Lou has shingles. Mary apologises to a relieved Lofty. Tony comes to Debbie’s rescue in the kitchen. Angie and Den come to an agreement, for Sharon’s sake – but will they honour it? Dinner at Debbie and Andy’s opens new doors for Naima.

Naima has her first driving lesson with disastrous results. Tony is upset after a visit from Angie and Den and Angie promise Sharon things are going to change. Sharon’s nose is out of joint over Michelle and Kelvin seeing each other again but she refuses an invitation to dinner from Ian and seems to have other ideas. Lofty’s well meaning gesture is not welcomed by Mary. Den and Angie seem to have put the spark back into their marriage.

Lou wakes up screaming from a nightmare. Den is disappointed with himself. Dr Legg shares some deep concerns about Pauline with Arthur. Ian’s term as the Queen Vic’s latest chef looks to be coming to an end. Michelle gets a new look. Tony warns Michelle off Kelvin, at least until exams are over, meanwhile Sharon moves in for the kill.

Michelle and Kelvin plan a night out in the West End, but one aspect of their plan has Andy in a tizz. Lou is still laid up. Saeed and Naima’s pledge to discuss everything together hits a snag. Dr Legg throws cold water on Sharon’s latest plans and Arthur “pours oil on troubled waters” when he tries to talk to Michelle about Kelvin.

Sharon is in Michelle’s bad books. Nothing is going right for Andy and Kelvin may have pushed his luck too far with Tony. Ali goes to see Den about a car but Debbie makes a point that will throw a spanner in the works. Lou’s demands are getting everyone down and Pauline is still not getting the support she needs, leading to possibly tragic circumstances.

An ambulance takes Pauline to the hospital.

Ali and Sue try to get money for the car Naima crashed not only from her, but also from Saeed, Den and Angie! Andy's stolen bike is found by the police.

Lou moves in with Pete and Kathy. A group of teenagers beat up Ian. Arthur doesn't like Michelle to go out with Kevin.

Lofty helps Ali and Sue fixing their car, but gets hurt in the process. Ali wins some money and uses it for gambling. Ian wants to learn some boxing after the beating he took the other day. Lou leaves for Beales.

Ali is bringing Sue flowers after he won some money without her knowing about his gambling. Sharon talks to her mother about going on the pill. Angie discusses this with Pauline and Dr. Legg. Ali and his brother Mehmet enter a high stakes poker game and Ali bets everything.

Ali wins the game! Mustapha, the fourth player besides Ali, Den and Mehmet, rushes Ali with a knife but is stopped by Den and Mehmet. Ali decides to buy a new car and some gifts for Sue.

When Sue and Ali wake up this morning they find baby Hassan dead in his bed! Dr. Legg can't do anything for Hassan anymore. Sue is in shock and Ali breaks down. The police questions the Osmans, Sue blames Ali and herself for the death.

After Hassan's death, Sue stays at Deb's. Ali arranges the funeral and tells Dr. Legg that Sue, as a woman, is not permitted in the mosque.

Lofty, with the help of Ian and Michelle, opens up the cafe for the Osmans.

Saeed and Naima both make lists, what they are missing in their marriage.

Sharon steals a bottle of Gin, and after emptying the whole bottle falls down the stairs.

Ali and Sue finally start talking about Hassan's death.

Sue goes back home with Ali, and Pete and Kathy want Lou to do the same. Lofty continues running the cafe with some help from Michelle.

Mary arrives back in Albert Square, but doesn’t stay in her own flat. Angie comes to a decision about the way she lives her life.

Sue and Ali cope as best they can. Pauline misses working.

Andy keeps up with his training and Michelle gives Lofty his “new look”. Mary unwittingly does a favour for Saeed.

Andy and Debbie find a new way to advertise the “Save Our Square” campaign. Sue decides to go back to work and Lou settles in at Kath and Pete’s.

There is more speculation about Lofty and Michelle and everyone but Ethel thinks Willy is on the nose.

Ali prepares for the funeral and Angie, who is struggling to stick to her decision, gets a bit of a culture shock. Lofty gets another “new look” compliments of Michelle.

The funeral goes ahead with everyone but Sue paying their respects. Michelle is on a money drive. Den’s not sure he likes Angie’s new life choice and Arthur gets on his high horse with Michelle. Saeed takes advantage of having Naima to himself again.

Kathy’s fed up and so is Saeed, leading to a whole new “cockney experience” for Saeed.

Sue is still in a daze. Ethel has an admirer and Arthur takes to the launderette like a fish to water. Michelle is running herself ragged and Pete lets the cat out of the bag – to his own benefit.

Saeed comes home and this time it is Naima’s turn to take off. Den is surprised to learn what Michelle wants the money for and although she is exhausted, Michelle is still looking for more work.

Lou is unconvinced by Ethel’s latest reading and there are a couple of homecomings.

Sue has still not talked about Hassan. Naima surprises Saeed.

Saeed follows Naima’s lead and makes a change to his look. Ali and Sue’s relationship is very strained.

Michelle is plagued by the green-eyed monster and Saeed is touched by it as well. Ethel gets asked out on a date.

Kelvin and Ian have a business idea. Saeed has ideas of a more amorous nature, and then so does Ali.

Michelle won’t let Arthur forget his broken promise. News about Nick Cotton worries Ethel, but Dot is in complete denial.

Ian has a windfall, much to Michelle’s chagrin. Saeed and Naima are distracted by other matters, and don’t open the shop.

Ethel suffers a disappointment but later prepares for her date. Sue is depressed and Ali’s frustration bubbles over.

Michelle is still feeling hard done by, but things start to look up. Saeed gets a taste of politics. Mary is not coping.

Den gives some good advice to Michelle, that he doesn’t follow himself. Naima and Saeed’s happiness is interrupted. Sue is still on auto-pilot and Ali turns to Lou for help in desperation.

Kelvin and Ian start work on their business and Arthur gets an idea that could keep him busy. Pauline has some very important news but can’t get anyone to listen.

Everyone is excited about the latest arrival at Walford. Sue keeps trying to pretend everything is OK.

Naima tells Deb about the note. Only Dot is pleased about the latest news in the Gazette.

Den is back to his old ways and an epidemic appears to be sweeping Walford. Ethel goes all out for her date.

Dr Legg tries out an idea to try to get through to Sue.

Sue is doing a lot better, but Mary is having real trouble coping. There are celebrations when Pauline comes home.

Angie is finding life on the wagon tough. Naima finally confronts Saeed about the note she has received and Angie catches Den out in a lie that may have far reaching consequences.

Lou is happily giving advice when it is not wanted and Michelle gets some disappointing news.

Angie and Den are still at each other but Ali and Sue are going much better.

The fund-raiser goes ahead at The Vic. Debbie upsets Mary, and Naima gives Saeed some devastating news.

Sharon tries to fill Angie’s shoes while she is away. Ethel tries her hand at match making, and Lou trusts someone she shouldn’t have.

Mary tells Pauline some things she has been trying to hide.

Deb and Andy are still recovering from the shock of being victims. Mary has to face the music, but has support from Pauline and Arthur.

Deb gets her exam results, and Dot announces the return of ‘the prodigal son’ – but she is the only one happy about it.

Arthur has happy news that doesn’t impress Michelle. Ethel’s romance hits a snag, and Andy discovers he has forgotten something very important.

Nick is hanging around annoying everyone else while Detective Sergeant Quick hangs around watching him.

Kelvin gets his school results. Den takes a stand that infuriates Dot - who is upset generally at the attitudes of others towards Nick.

Angie arrives home unexpectedly.

Michelle is depressed. Kelvin, Lofty and Ian have more problems with their knitting business.

Sharon continues to sexually harass (and terrify) Lofty. DS Quick upsets Dot when he pays her another visit.

Angie overhears Den talking to his mistress on the phone.

Arthur starts his new job. Tony gets some good news. Andy has an unusual request for Debbie.

Nick is really starting to feel the pressure, but very few are sympathetic. Tony and Hannah argue as usual about Kelvin, but come to an agreement to support his business aspirations.

Den’s latest venture has The Vic cluttered with boxes, and Sharon continues to turn up the heat.

Angie worries about her image. Tony helps Arthur without realising it, and Dot may have the key to fulfilling Arthur’s allotment dream.

A visit from the council upsets Lou, while Deb is charmed by Andy’s new friend. The knitting business hits another snag and Angie plays private detective.

Angie and Den are right back to normal – at each other’s throats, playing games and terrifying Lofty.

Michelle is still moping around but is yet to find someone to talk to about what her real problem is. Arthur is happy growing vegetables on the allotment.

Ethel is refusing to go out anywhere alone while Nick Cotton is out and about.

Angie is having real difficulties coming to terms with the truth about her marriage, but Den seems to be enjoying watching her misery.

Arthur gives Kelvin, Ian and Lofty some business advice and the author of the letter to Naima is revealed.

Sue and Ali are back from their holiday. Tony has security concerns. Arthur is still busy selling spinach and lottery tickets, but Pete and Kath give him a hard time about pilfering from work.

Lofty has become Ethel’s regular escort, but ironically, Nick also turns to Lofty for help. Meanwhile, Saeed is miserable without Naima, and Mary approaches Nick for a favour.

Den and all the male customers head off to the football, leaving Lofty at the mercy of Angie’s fun and games at The Vic.

Nick tries to mend bridges with Ethel. Dr Legg gets a visit from both Nick and Ali with problems they find hard to talk about, but he has some good news for the Fowler’s.

Tony confronts ‘the rat’ he catches leaving the building next to his flat. Meanwhile at The Vic, Sharon’s plans to seduce Lofty go horribly wrong.

Michelle finally manages to confide in someone.

Dr Legg is upset by all the litter in Albert Square. Lou is supportive of Michelle. At The Vic, Den tries to make things up with Sharon.

Meanwhile, Sharon is shocked to find out the extent of Mary’s poverty.

Den opens up to Tony and Saeed thinks he knows who wrote the note to Naima.

At The Vic, Den tries to get things back to normal, but Ethel still manages to surprise him. Lou convinces Michelle to tell Pauline her news. DS Quick is back on the scene, and puts a halt to Lofty and Kelvin‘s retail endeavors.

There is some counterfeit money going around.

Andy is grieving and finds a couple of very cute things to distract him. Angie defies Den’s wishes with regards to Nick. Pauline tells Arthur Michelle’s news, but Michelle is adamant about not revealing who the other person involved is.

The christening of ‘the baby’ has to be postponed due to illness. The counterfeit note finds its way back into circulation.

Michelle is not at all happy about all the discussion of her situation in her absence, and comes to a startling conclusion of her own.

Deb and Andy plan a trip. Kelvin dobs Tony in for a community project. Ali is up to old tricks.

Ethel tries to do Dot and Pauline a favour. Angie and Den have dinner at Deb and Andy’s. Michelle is upset that no one is listening to her and decides to make a long overdue phone call.

Michelle makes plans to meet with the father of her baby, but who is it? Deb decides not to go away with Andy.

Ethel continues to have problems at the launderette. The father of Michelle’s baby is eventually revealed, and they come to an agreement.

Nick’s up to something, but what? Michelle informs others of her decision about her pregnancy, but not everyone is supportive of it.

A new face arrives in Walford.

Not everyone is happy about Simon moving to Walford. Sue has had a dream that upsets her.

Michelle opens up to her gran. Arthur is feeling his age. At the Vic, Angie continues to organise the darts team and a darts competition is held.

Debbie turns her attention to business. Nick is up to old tricks and gets hold of some confidential information concerning Kathy.

Ian is put out of his own bed, but doesn’t mind as much as he makes out. Pauline gets a message for Saeed, who also receives a letter from his father.

Kathy is distracted and unwell. Dot’s behaviour attracts attention. Simon announces he intends to stay on in Walford.

A visitor to the square attracts a lot of attention.

Dr Leggett organises to have the locks changed. Kathy and Simon have a talk about his living arrangements.

Mary seems to have made a new friend in Sheena. Michelle begins telling everyone about the baby. The launderette has been robbed.

Arthur takes the lead on the firework committee.

Sheena tries to talk to Mary into doing what she does for a living.

Sue finds out some home truths. Nick and Kathy come to an agreement.

Angie plans a surprise for Den, but Den’s mind is on someone else. Sheena pushes Mary to start work.

Debbie is still keen on Saeed’s shop, but Saeed seems to have other interests – until Andy puts a damper on everything.

Angie furious over Den’s deception, is cheered up by an unexpected guest.

Ethel arrives at 11am, 2 hours early for the Christening, because she wrote down 2 one's instead of 1 one. Ali is dancing & flirting with Deb, when Andy cuts in, and Sue, who has seen the way Ali was behaving, asks him if he's enjoying himself.

It’s Halloween. Sharon’s attempts at playing practical jokes keep missing the mark. Simon starts work. Dot asks Tony for help. Deb stustuns Andy with some news, but is more shocked by his reaction.

Dot’s nose is still out of joint about not being invited to Martin’s christening. Angie prepares for the first ‘ladies only’ night at The Vic.

Nick’s generosity raises suspicions. Something Dot finds gets Pete concerned.

Mary tries out her act in front of someone for the first time.

Nick ups the ante with Kathy. Arthur feels compelled to ask Lofty an awkward question.

Pete gets more suspicious about what is going on with Kathy. The ladies night is well attended and the final act well appreciated by most.

Kath opens up to Angie and Pauline.

Sheena thinks Mary needs a new look. Hannah and Tony have a talk about their future.

Andy comes home. Mary is desperate for a babysitter, so that she can start work. Saeed comes to a decision about his future.

Ian has his final training session before the big fight. Kath finally confides in Pete.

Arthur is determined to keep Pete away from Nick. Mary has her first day of work.

Cassie spends some time with Tony. Pete makes amends, and Andy comes home. A meeting is held about Nick.

Lofty tries to benefit from Simon’s lucky streak.

Ian prepares for the big fight, and gets some extra training from Simon. Mary is starting to feel uncomfortable about Annie’s babysitter.

Arthur tries his hand at playing private detective. Nick pushes his luck with Pete. Lou’s health becomes a concern. Mary tells Dot a home truth about Nick.

Debbie thinks she knows who her obscene caller is. The plan to catch Nick out is put into action.

Ian has his big fight, but does he stand a chance? Andy keeps up the pressure on Debbie.

Pete has had enough of Nick and decides to teach him a lesson. In spite of Dr Legg’s concerns, Lou refuses to go to hospital for tests.

Sheena shows her true colours. Deb is left with her foot in her mouth.

Deb’s financial situation is getting her down but she finds little sympathy.

Pauline prepares for an important visitor. Deb and Andy’s relationship continues to deteriorate.

The Vic’s ladies darts team heads off to compete, much to Dan’s chagrin. Annoyance turns to fury though, when Angie goes AWOL.

A former resident returns to Walford and solves a mystery for Deb. Angie and the car are worse for wear in the morning.

Dot is feeling abandoned. Annie gets some new clothes.

Preparations for Lou’s return continue, and provide some entertainment.

More money seems to have gone missing at the Vic. More of Saeed’s activities are revealed. Ethel gets into the Christmas spirit.

Lou arrives home - but how will she take the changes? Ali and Sue’s homeownership plans fall short.

Andy surprises Deb and gets more than he bargained for. Lofty and Kelvin come up with a new idea for their business.

Tony gets some unwelcome news. Angie almost has a brush with the law.

Dot is on the warpath and Angie is jumpy. Andy seeks a special Christmas bonus. Lou finally settles in to her new room.

A depressed Saeed begs for Pauline’s help. A cheerful Tony extends the hand of friendship to Dot, but his mood is quick to change after speaking to Cassie. At the Vic, Dan is furious to discover that more money is missing.

Naima agrees to meet with Saeed. Lou is still having difficulty adjusting to her limitations.

Dot seems to be feeling better and everyone is getting into the Christmas spirit.

Deb loves her Christmas present from Andy. Angie decides to come clean.

It is Boxing Day and there are more than a few sore heads. At the Vic, the missing money turns up. Naima and Saeed finally talk things out.

Lou’s decorative outhouse is the talk of the town. Mary upsets Sue and Ali when she stands firm on the new babysitting arrangements. Tony is shocked by an unexpected visit from Cassie.

Michelle, Pauline and Arthur have separated and are scouring the streets of Southend showing pictures of Mark to everyone they see.

It is a cold damp day and they are looking miserable and discouraged but trudge ahead.

1986 in Walford starts with the Fowlers taking a trip to Southend to find Mark. On finding him, one of the first thing he and Michelle realise is they're both now parents.

Den gets an early call from David in Ilford. Angie thinks it was Jan but is even more irritated when she learns that Den is up to his eyebrows in some dodgy goods again.

Angie is at the Walford nick giving her statement about the car accident and they telephone Den since she says she took the car without permission. He lies and tell them that he gave her the car to use. Later Quick comes to the Vic and tells Den that as an accessory after the fact he'll be in trouble as well if he doesn't tell the truth. Den goes back to see the WPC and changes his story.

Den and Kathy go to court with Angie leaving Debbie to take care of the pub lunches and Simon and Lofty to manage the bar. Debbie goes a bit overboard trying to fancy up the plates which go unappreciated by Arthur, Pete and the others. The case is delayed and Den returns in the late.

Ali calls about the flat at 47B to arrange for a look. Sue is anxious to see it so it is agreed that they can see it the same day. Ali gets the key from Naima and they have a few embarrassing moments about what happened when Ali helped her move her things out. It seemed that they had sex in the empty flat.

Two blokes have been in the shop flexing muscles and threatening violence if Naima doesn't cough up protection money, and the old Bill don't much seem to care.

As Ali and Sue open the café before dawn, Beresford and Victor get out of their Merc and force their way in. Victor puts Ali's arm in a lock and Beresford calmly explains Mr Scanlon's scheme to provide the immigrants protection for £10 per week and tells them to think about it for 24 hours.

Andy is surprised when Debbie brings Naima home followed by DS Quick who is lugging a Zed bed for the front room. He is quite upset when Debbie informs him that in order to help with the finances since she quit her job, she decided to take in a lodger.

Beresford and Victor are waiting outside the café in Beresford's Mercedes when Ali and Sue open up. Victor goes in to collect the first weekly £10 protection money. Sue quickly gives him the money over Ali's protest. They then go to Tony's house and Beresford goes in. Tony laughs at his insurance scheme and hits him very hard in the stomach.

Den closes the bar early after Jan appears with the news that her dad died. As soon as Angie realises who the new arrival is she shoots upstairs and sits in the darkened kitchen. With all the tension at the pub, Simon goes home with Lofty to spend the night while John Fisher sleeps on the sofa upstairs at the pub.

Sharon comes downstairs to the bar and just stares at Jan who tries to explain how her situation with Den happened. Sharon doesn't say anything but listens rather sympathetically. When Jan decides it's time for her to leave she asks where she could freshen up. Sharon says upstairs and Jan smiles saying not "up there" (where Angie was). She asks about "down here" and Sharon motions toward the corner saying "but the water's cold".

Lou tells Ethel that she gave Simon Albert's watch. Pauline overhears and is upset with Lou for giving the watch to Simon. Pauline claims it should have been given to her as she was the first born. Lou is taken back by this objection and says nothing.

Some thugs show up in the Square looking for Simon. Angie hits up Dot for her sleeping pills to add to her collection. The café and shop are vandalised with red paint and most everyone including the postman pitch in to help clean up.

Angie plumbs the depths of despair when Den tells her he's moving out. Wicksy's true motive for returning to the Square comes to light when he tries to con Pete into giving him a loan.

Ethel puts posters around the square trying to find her missing little Willie. Angie sends her off early from her cleaning at the pub so she can look for him.

Den returns early morning in a cab as Angie covers for him telling Sharon he is walking Roly. Sharon is in a bad mood and nasty to both of them. John Fisher comes by early on his day off to pick up the rest of his gear. He has been worried about Angie since the night before and probably wants to see that she is OK.

Tony takes his laundry to the launderette and Dot tells him all about her date the night before with "a darky" who wined and dined her. Tony confronts her that he saw her in the "Burger Barn" last night on her own. He tells her to give up the dating stories before everyone finds out the truth and laughs at her. She says they do anyway but gets him to promise not to tell anyone.

Hannah and Cassie stayed the night at Tony's after, Hannah's boyfriend hit Cassie once again and Tony gave him a smack.

Kelvin tries to reason with Cassie that she needs to stop getting in the way all the time if she wants Hannah and Tony to get back to together.

Sue starts to lose her rag with everyone treating the café like a doss house. Pete tells Arthur about Michelle asking Lofty to marry her and it doesn't go down well. Later on in the Vic, Arthur gets drunk and comes to the conclusion that Lofty is the father of Michelle's baby. Lofty enters and Arthur nearly breaks into a fight. Lofty soon puts him right by showing his love for Michelle.

Arthur tells Michelle that Lofty has no prospects but Pauline agrees to stand by Michelle's decision to marry him. Tomy employs Arthur to help with the shops refurbishment. Debbie changes the living arrangements, putting Naima in the master bedroom, so Andy sarcastically calls it the "bridal suite" and he and Debbie end up shouting at each other. DS Quick tells Debbie he would have a better chance of promotion if he were married. Mary is back to her punk look and tells Andy she was never interested in him. Kathy tells Dot that her smoking is antisocial, which upsets her. Ethel later reads Dot's fortune and sees a lot of love and marriage, but as Dot is already married, Dot assumes it means Charlie will come back.

Dot's in a state and hot on the trail of Ethel, who's been telling her fortune. Pauline chooses a new carpet but Lou doesn’t like the final choice. Lofty starts reading palms and takes all the business from Ethel. The carpet salesman causes trouble in the Queen Vic when he is caught cheating during his card magic trick. Lofty and Michelle share a passionate kiss.

Angie returns home and wants to know where Den is. Lofty asks Arthur for Michelle’s hand in marriage. Mary apologies to Andy for taking his rejection badly. Den returns home and after a chat with Angie he goes back to Jan, which makes Angie hit the bottle again.

Den provides Lofty with a big diamond engagement ring for Michelle. The day is full of engagement celebrations. The romance rubs off on Arthur and he buys Pauline a ring too. Lofty tells Michelle he is planning to become a traffic warden to look after the family. Mary's propositioned on the street which upsets her and she turns to Andy for advice. Arthur is in demand for all kinds of jobs. Den turns into a Victorian parent when he finds Sharon and Ian necking on the sofa. At the end of the day, Ethel is proved right - Nick appears in Dot's life again.

Nick tells Dot that Charlie is not coming back and gives her some cash. He annoys several residents and offers to be a pimp for Mary but she refuses and he says he knows a secret about her. Dot has Ethel read Nick's fortune and she says she sees money. Simon sees Andy and Angie kissing in the morning and finds Andy's watch. Angie says he stayed because he was drunk. Den visits Jan in the daytime so Angie has Andy over while he is supposed to be meeting Mary. Simon sees him leaving. The Fowlers realise they cannot afford much and Pauline says she will get another job but Arthur says it should be down to him. Sue tells Ali she thinks she is pregnant.

In the middle of the night Andy sneaks into the the Vic through the back to go and see Angie to carry on their secret affair. The both of them thinking Simon is in bed, talk about there affair on the stairs and share a kiss not knowing that Simon was in the bar the whole time listening to everything they said!

Dot is informed by the bank that someone she knows tried to cash her cheques but she can see none missing from her chequebook. Dot then wins £250 at bingo. Dot also visits Doctor Legg, who says she may be approaching the menopause. Nick tells Mary they are both outsiders and should stick together. Naima is visited by Mr Gill from The Firm, who takes cash from her till. Mr Gill then goes to the Vic looking for Den but he is not there. DS Quick asks Nick for help finding information on a bank raid. Den catches Angie and Andy together.

are missing after all and her bingo winnings are missing. Nick almost convinces Mary to get into prostitution, leading to a fight between Nick and Andy. Den attacks Andy over his affair with Angie. Kathy and Angie make amends. Den is on edge due to a high police presence on Albert Square and the imminent arrival of his guest.

Sharon is worried about the stranger in her home, while Den is nervous about all the police in Albert Square. DS Quick tells Andy the police heard there is a "villain" in the area and Ali worries about two men he sees. Pete and Kathy worry that Sharon will be a bad influence on Ian, while Simon tells them that Sharon is unhappy and needs a friend.

The guest at the Vic monopolises the bathroom and when Angie knocks on the door to complain that she and Sharon need to use it, he invites her to join him in the bath!

Tony receives a letter from Cassie's school saying she is bullying another girl. After Sharon tells Den she is fed up of him and the Vic, Simon gives Den some home truths. Pauline calls a family meeting. DS Quick asks Debbie for an answer to his proposal but she says she needs more time. Mary thanks Andy because she got the canteen job. Ethel is mugged for her handbag.

Ethel tells a reporter that Den got rid of the mob and several people thank Den for doing so. Ethel gives Den her husband's war medal because she thinks he is a hero. Tony is confused when Hannah says she wants to buy the flat above his. Simon worries the Vic is too dangerous and considers leaving. Den tells Michelle it was a coincidence that The Firm left the area after he was asked to deal with them. Sharon witnesses Den treating Michelle more favourably than herself so she steals money from the till and sneaks out in the night.

Michelle goes into labour but Pauline is nowhere to be seen. Angie panics as she discovers Sharon is missing. Meanwhile, Mary has her first day's kitchen work in the hospital canteen.

Michelle speaks to a mother of four, Lizzie Burton, about how she would cope bringing up her children on her own, as she is thinking about it all the time. Sharon has been staying with Mary. Ethel sees Ian visiting her. Angie and Den report Sharon missing to WPC Howard. Ethel visits Sharon and advises her to visit Michelle.

ony tells Hannah they should stop their divorce before it is finalised but she says she is not sure about it yet. After reading Mary's Bible, Sharon talks to Dot about Jesus and God. Ozcabs is up and running but Mehmet tells Ali their father wants to buy it. Ali is against his getting involved.

Doctor Legg and Dot both complain about the noise and dust created by Tony's work, while Arthur asks Tony to pay him cash-in-hand, for which Pete reprimands him. Dot starts smoking again, then tells Ethel about a church social, which interests Ethel because of the free tea and biscuits.

Michelle brings Vicki home and Arthur is annoyed when Lofty takes charge of hosting visitors, leading to an argument. Den is also annoyed when Lofty makes comments about wanting to be Vicki's real father and Den having no children of his own. Debbie tells Andy they need to show they are not cohabiting as partners and she finally answers DS Quick's proposal by ending their relationship.

Pat arrives in Walford to a mixed reception. Pete and Kathy have a fight with her in the pub, while Wicksy is worried that she's purely out to cause trouble around Albert Square.

Pat is intent on causing trouble for her ex-husband, Pete. So she tells Pauline exactly what she thinks of him, but Pauline loyal as ever and in defence of her brother, slaps Pat.

Den tells Pete he thinks Pat was lying about Wicksy not being Pete's son. During a band meeting upstairs in the Vic, Harry proposes that The Banned gets an additional member.

DS Quick is bitter when he sees Andy and Debbie kissing in the street. Arthur worries about paying for the wedding. Lofty says he has taken his £50 savings from the bank to go towards it.

Ian offers to make Lofty and Michelle's wedding cake for free and asks Naima for a part-time job in the shop. Lofty asks Simon to be his best man and Michelle asks Sharon to be her bridesmaid.

DS Quick questions the band members over the burglary because he associates being in a band with drug use. he also question Kelvin and Cassie, and Cassie cries over the interrogation. Kelvin and Harry confront ds Quick in the pub, claiming he is using the burglary as an excuse to hound groups he dislikes.

DS Quick goes round to the Beales', making enquiries to the youngsters about the crime of the burglary in the surgery and Ethel's. Lou soon puts him right. Wicksy asks Naima to think about getting a flat with him.

Ali feels he has failed at fatherhood and is depressed, later getting drunk and asked to leave the Vic. A drunk DS Quick tells Debbie he wants her back and that he cannot cope with the hatred from the locals and he wants to quit the police force.

Doctor Legg compensates Ethel and Lofty for the burglary. DS Quick tells people he has quit and has a new job in security. Doctor Legg's car is stolen and he berates DS Quick for doing nothing about it and says the crime rate did not drop since he arrived.

Ethel answers the phone in the Vic to a man asking if Michelle had her baby yet, leaving people wondering who it was, especially Den and Arthur. Mehmet has no alibi for when Doctor Legg's car was taken and admits to Ali he was with a friend who is an illegal immigrant and does not want his name mentioned.

Cassie is bullying again and she accuses Hannah of not caring about her and just thinking about money. Kelvin tells Hannah she has spoilt Cassie recently and he will talk to her. Pete books a holiday but Ian says the band need him so Simon convinces Kathy to let Ian stay behind. Naima is fed up of living with Debbie and Andy, who constantly annoy her.

Sue wants to talk to Ali about IVF but he refuses to. Dot tries to apologise to Sue but Sue sends her away. Sue then confides in Michelle about her phantom pregnancy. Mark returns with his Welsh friend, Owen, who Arthur finds fascinating because of his random comments about marrows.

Arthur is forced to look after the café after Ali and Sue leave without warning and Ali later refuses to pay Arthur for his time. Mehmet invites Ali out to a dog race but Ali refuses to go when he sees Mary in the car.

Jan invites Den to New York in November and Den tells Angie. Angie stops Den seeing Jan that night by inviting Willmott-Brown to the Vic. Cassie hears Tony questioning Kelvin about drugs and then Tony and Hannah talking about divorcing in two weeks.

Today's the day for everyone to go to the community centre to give blood. Andy gets down on one knee and proposes to Debbie, who accepts. Ethel faints and causes quite a stir.

Pauline and Lofty talk about the events with Cassie and Pauline is furious with Mark and Owen. Hannah tries to reason with Naima on what to do with Cassie, Pauline bumps into them and tries to apologize to Hannah, Hannah takes no notice and is a total snob about the situation.

Tony and Hannah consider sending Cassie to boarding school. Arthur confronts the Carpenters, telling them to sort out their own problems instead of blaming others as Cassie is also a bully. Arthur thinks Tony will never employ him again. A youth attempts to mug Arthur but Andy stops it and the youth is arrested.

Sharon wants to leave private school and just be a singer so Den tells Angie they will speak to her after the band's first gig. Tony agrees to give Naima until 4pm to raise the money for the flat, which her father agrees to give her. Cassie visits Michelle but tells her parents she was with Kelvin, however, Hannah realises the truth and decides Albert Square is full of bad influences.

Hannah is adamant that Cassie is going to private school. Arthur upsets Dot after she offends him. Harry and Simon bicker, leading to the gig being cancelled. Andy saves a little boy, but with deadly consequences.

Debbie gets some devastating news from the police. Arthur asks to call a truce with the Carpenters.

A reporter arrives to get information about Andy, puts words into Arthur's mouth, twists what Ethel says, angers Den and enters Debbie's home uninvited. Later Andy is front page news but the article is full of inaccuracies.

Debbie leaves for Andy's funeral and Colin moves into Albert Square. Arthur follows Pauline to her class and sees them meditating, while community centre worker Tom Clements tells Arthur that strange things go on in the class.

Everyone's thoughts are with Andy on the day of his funeral. Sharon and Angie go on holiday to Florida. The band agree to change their name to The Banned and enter a competition, for which Simon will write a song.

Sue sees Michelle without Vicki and assumes that she cannot cope. She asks to adopt Vicki so Michelle slaps her hard and orders her out. Mary accuses Mehmet of spiking her drink but he says he wanted her to relax and nothing sexual happened. The band practice with Harry's sequencer and they improvise - everyone likes Simon's playing apart from Harry.

Michelle has a fitting for her wedding dress and the family attend church to hear the banns being read out. Afterwards, Pauline tells Michelle that Den has offered them the Vic for the reception. Michelle refuses to enter the Vic on the wedding day, saying it is not fair on Lofty as he works there.

Arthur is angry when he sees Den paying Tom cash in hand. Pauline says the reception can be at the community centre if all the guests pay £5 towards it, but Arthur insists it is his responsibility to pay for everything. Arthur later breaks down in tears, telling Pauline he is no use to anyone.

After a rehearsal, Harry declares that Simon is no longer needed - they argue and Simon quits, taking his song with him. Mehmet invites Mary to the café at night while he is working the cab radio but they are interrupted by Sue and Ali. The next day, Mehmet tells Sue that he likes variety so Sue says maybe some variety would help her to get pregnant and it would be okay if it was kept in the family.

Simon writes a new song, Every Loser Wins, and plays it to himself on the Vic piano during afternoon closing. Arthur sneaks off for the day, missing the day at the cemetery on the 21st anniversary of Albert's death. Lou is not pleased.

Pauline wins a Glamorous Grannies competition in the Vic. Afterwards, Arthur announces that he has paid for Michelle and Lofty's wedding in full as well as a honeymoon. He then admits to Pauline he used the Christmas Club money that he has been collecting all year and promises to pay it back!

Pauline tells Arthur he could go to prison and she wants to cancel the wedding to pay the money back, but Arthur says it is too late and reminds Pauline they have until Christmas to get the money. After people assume Arthur took out a loan, Pauline suggests telling people that Arthur borrowed it from a cousin and says if they cannot get out of the mess, the whole family will go down.

It is the day of Michelle and Lofty's wedding. Michelle tells Lou she feels "numb" and "frozen" but Lou says it is normal and she felt the same on her wedding day. Ethel reads Lofty's fortune, saying she sees "someone making a right decision".

Den leaves the church early. Michelle tells Arthur she cannot go through with the wedding so he takes her home. Simon tries to cheer up Lofty when they get home but he wants to be left alone and breaks down in tears. Michelle apologises to Pauline and tells her that she loves Vicki's father and will not marry anyone if she cannot marry him.

Michelle and Lofty sit alone in their respective rooms - Michelle is plagued by a series of well-meaning visitors, Lofty plays the tape of Wicksy's song continually. Pete turns up at the community centre to film a video for The Banned, but Harry has sent Kelvin a note to say the rehearsal is cancelled.

Angie gets test results from Doctor Legg - she has liver damage but it is reversible if she stops drinking, otherwise in six months it could be permanent. He recommends seeing a counsellor. Angie tells Den she needs more tests from a specialist. Michelle and Lofty finally talk - she says she was ready to marry him but when she arrived she realised she does not want to marry anyone and needs her independence.

Den spends a frustrated morning trying to get Angie on her own to discuss Jan's ultimatum. Sensing his motive she thwarts him at every turn. Sharon announces she is leaving school early and won't be going back to do her A-levels.

Den continues hounding Angie, but she evades him once more by saying she's going out. Den takes out his subsequent bad temper on Simon by sending him to search for an absent Lofty who has collapsed in his room from a severe asthma attack!.

Den is ready to walk out on Angie and leave everything behind, including his successful like as a publican, but then some devastating news from his wife turns their love-hate relationship on its head.

Kathy explains to Pete why she'd like to become a Samaritan. He's initially shocked, and rather hostile to the idea. Arthur is slowly falling into depression, spending most of the day sat in the same chair. Michelle tries to make the effort to give him some motivation but Arthur tells her to mind her own business!

It's finally The Banned's big competition night. Michelle and Angie go along to support Sharon, but Pete stays at home as he doesn't want to put Ian off. Simon joins him and together they watch the video Pete made of The Banned instead. The actual performance is a disaster - the drum machine plays a completely different pattern, and The Banned quickly become a laughing stock.

Pauline starts a new cleaning job at Colin's flat. Arthur complains that she's taking on too many jobs. Lou warns Pat to leave Pete alone, and accuses her of a past affair with Pete's brother Kenny, suggesting Kenny is the real father of Simon. At a post-mortem for The Banned in the community centre Ian and Kelvin become suspicious that Harry doesn't seem bothered that their performance was sabotaged.

Kelvin and Eddie have a standoff with Harry in the community centre, and ask him to explain why he sabotaged The Banned's competition performance. Harry says the band was useless and had no chance of making it, so he did it to show them all up.

Pat starts working at the Queen Vic. Sharon goes to the job centre to find work and considers going on a Youth Training Scheme (YTS). Pete has a go at Den for allowing Pat to work at the pub. Carmel goes to look at Tony's flat as she has to move within three weeks, but it's too expensive.

Arthur tells everyone he is withdrawing the Christmas club money that day. At the end of the night, he invites Pete and Kathy back to their home but when they arrive, it appears that there has been a burglary.

DS West investigates the burglary. Arthur and Lou say the club money, the post office account book, jewellery and Lou's watch were taken. Later, Arthur tells Pauline that faking a burglary was the only way he could see out of the situation with the Christmas club money but insists he did not take Lou's watch.

DS West questions Arthur at the police station. Pete tries to make things up with Simon, saying Simon is his son regardless but Simon is suspicious and tells Kathy he wants to know what is going on. Sharon meets Jan to make sure she will not be seeing Den again.

Colin makes morning coffee for his overnight guest, Barry, who is nursing a hangover from the disco they met at the night before. Later, in the Square, Colin re-encounters Barry while cycling through the market. Barry winks at Colin causing him to fall off his bike and crash into Kathy's jumper stall.

Den seeks out Jan in Venice. Back in Walford, Lofty and Dot visit Ethel in hospital. Dot advises Colin to remain single, while Barry watches Colin arriving home and jokingly steals his bicycle. Dot tells Arthur he has her support as it took courage to apologise.

Den and Angie take a trip on the Orient Express. Ethel returns to Albert Square. The Fowlers have disappeared and no one knows where they have gone.

Michelle has moved in with Lofty. Colin tells Barry he likes him as a casual friend. Den and Angie return home and Den visits Jan to tell her the truth about Angie - he says he needs a good lawyer so he can divorce Angie and marry Jan. Ethel worries that Charlie is taking advantage of Dot's good nature and stealing money from her.

Pete breaks with family tradition and plans to spend Christmas Day at the Vic with Den. Pat decides to stay in Albert Square and asks Doctor Legg to rent Ethel's flat.

Pete and Arthur have a fight. Charlie flirts with Pat. Ethel is upset that her room has gone. Den tells Angie she will get a big Christmas surprise and tells Colin he is divorcing Angie. Kelvin tells Hannah that he loves Carmel and wants her to move in with him. Barry unexpectedly tells Colin that he is moving in with him.

Arthur's depression gets the better of him, while Michelle and Lofty head off on their honeymoon.

Rezaul arrives but Naima insists she does not want him there, especially when he says he must be paid. She calls both their fathers but both insist that Rezaul stay and Naima accuses Rezaul of wanting to steal her hard-earned business but he insists he can help her make a profit.

Mehmet introduces Pat to his friend while Wicksy conspires to throw a spanner in the works. Sharon tells Angie she is going out for the day and has a late shift, so will be home after 9pm. Angie fears for Sharon's safety with the Walford attacker on the loose and gives her money for a taxi home. Lou accuses Pete of being a traitor.

Hannah disapproves of Kelvin's relationship with Carmel. Barry continues to annoy Colin in the flat so Colin asks him to move out. Pat and Mehmet make a plan and Pat takes Mary out with two strange men. Pete accuses Pat of trying to corrupt Mary and then tells Den to get rid of Pat but Den says she is a good barmaid.

Dot learns of Charlie's intentions to leave her before Christmas. Kelvin informs his parents of his intention to move out - permanently. A severely depressed Arthur locks himself in the allotment shed until Pete forces him out.

Christmas Day at the Vic has unexpected consequences for Angie after Den gives her an important letter. Pauline begins to suspect the identity of Vicki's father, while Christmas cracks Arthur up.

Angie is left reeling about the divorce. Pete and Lou make amends. Arthur breaks down.

Angie and Sharon stay at Kathy and Pete's. Kathy tells Pauline to see Doctor Legg about Arthur. Pat urges Mary to talk to a man, Eamon, in the Vic, saying that she is likely to get her dinner paid for. Mehmet tells Kathy a friend is willing to sell one of her jumper designs if she can make them within four weeks. Pete works out that Kathy can make £400, but she will have to get some help and Kathy thinks she will be overworked.

New Year's Day and Lofty is woken by Michelle typing. Michelle kicks out Ian and Wicksy, who both crashed out at the flat, and prepares to deal with her hungover husband.

Den hears Sharon's screams and comes to her rescue. He insists on driving her over to the Estate. Over at No. 45, Pauline is waiting up for Arthur to come home.

Sharon hears that she can have another week off work. Angie tells her that they'll have to move out from Pete and Kath's flat to a hotel and that Den'll have to pay.

Sharon and Angie move out of Pete and Kath's flat and into a hotel. They both have important interviews today. Angie sees her solicitor, Mr Fenwick, about the divorce.

It's Kelvin's eighteenth birthday; his parents give him an expensive designer watch and his younger sister Cassie sends him hair beads.

It is the morning after the party. Tony suffers a fare-dodger who also adds insult to injury by throwing up in his cab. At Lofty and Michelle's flat Lofty has been banished to the sofa.

Lofty spends the day planning a night out with his wife. He seeks advice on what to do and where to go, but gets lots of different suggestions in response.

Kathy and Michelle are working hard to try to complete Mehmet's knitting order - aided and supported by Ian, Pete and Lofty.

Trade at the Vic is still very bad. Den discovers Lofty's glass full of coins and insists that Lofty stops his scheme to subsidise the punters' drinks.

It is the day after Kathy was let down by Mehmet. All she wants is her jumpers back so she can sell them, but Sue tells her they've been sold and Mehmet himself is away from work "sick".

Hannah is followed home at night and again in the morning. Rezaul offers to walk her home later, angering Tony and Mehmet gets rid of Rezaul when he gives Hannah more unwanted attention. Jan visits Den and says she will run the Vic with him. Den the finds out that Willmott-Brown has bought the nearby Dagmar bar and is going to refurbish it so they will be in competition.

Ali looks for witnesses to someone crashing into his cab the night before, unaware that it was Barry and Nick in Barry's friend's father's car. When Barry asks Colin for a loan to repair the car, Colin says he will only if Barry confesses and that Barry should be getting away from crime.

Pat has a black eye, which Kathy says she deserves for being "evil". Mary tells Den that Mehmet knew the deal with Kathy was a scam so Den, Pete and Tony eventually find Mehmet and trap him, beating him up.

Simon realises that what Pat said about Naima was true and he tells Lou he no longer wants to see his mother. Pete later says he will no longer drink in the Vic while Pat is there and when Pat and Simon argue, she tells him that Pete's brother, Kenny Beale, is his real father.

Tony returns from a night's cabbing with blood on his hands. Wicksy comes home with scratches on his face and Pete seems to have disappeared. Dot then makes a gruesome discovery while walking Willy through the Square gardens - Pat lying bloody and unconscious behind a bench, after being beaten up! Pete gets taken off by the police for questioning, and hits a policeman.

Pete and Simon are released by the police but Pete must come up with an alibi as to his whereabouts in regards to the recent spate of attacks on local women. Guizin and her three children are homeless after Mehmet gambled their house away and then did a runner.

Pete tells Pauline that everyone except for her thinks he is guilty, even Lou and Kathy. Emine and Rayif go missing but are later found by Lofty. Guizin says that Mehmet has left them but Emine says he has only left Guizin.

Pat tells a WPC that she saw her attacker and the officer asks if it is someone she knows. Arthur returns to Albert Square but realises he is not ready and returns to hospital.

Trade is down in the Vic so Lofty suggests a party and Barry suggests making it a cross-dressing party, which Den agrees to. Ian comes up with an idea to prank Pete. Simon talks to Lou about who his father is -

Carmel talks to Mary and they start to get along but Carmel assumes that Mary is going to leave Annie on her own again. Mary says she wants to be liked but just gets used so Carmel says most girls say "no".

DS Todd questions people about the party and he finds out that Pete left early and why and later asks Pete to answer more questions at the police station because they think the same man is responsible for all the attacks on women.

Pete returns home after hours of police questioning and worries he will be charged with the attacks. Kathy says she will visit Pat and find out what she told the police. Pauline thanks Den for keeping Lofty employed but asks if he is doing it for Michelle, which he denies.

Arthur visits Mary and says that prostitution is not the answer and he has worked out that everyone is on their own in the world and he will make something out of nothing.

Pete is fed up of being constantly hounded by the police. Kathy visits Pat in hospital to get her to confirm that Pete did not attack her but Pat says she does not know so she would be lying.

Den and Angie each receive their decree nisi, meaning they will be divorced in 42 days. Dot finds out that Colin and Barry are a gay couple and is horrified and asks Doctor Legg to be tested for AIDS as she used Barry's cup.

Dot attempts to avoid Colin and Barry. Sue tells Debbie about the lump in her breast and admits she is scared to see a doctor about it. Mark arrives following his release but soon leaves with a girl called Jude and Michelle realises he is not coming back. Pat returns from hospital.

Angie and Sharon move into the B&B on Albert Square. During a home visit, Arthur asks Pauline if he can sleep back in the marital bed again and Michelle gives Arthur money to pay back two people's Christmas club money.

Jan has it out with Den. Barry is fined £150 for the car crash and Colin is forced to lend him the money. The past is raked up for Kathy when she receives a visitor who has shocking news for her.

Sue is told her lump is not cancerous so she, Ali and Guizin celebrate. Simon and Sharon use Mary's flat for sex but find Annie there alone and spend the time tidying and see a letter about her unpaid court fine.

Mary asks Ethel to babysit for two hours. Nine hours later, Mary returns to find Michelle looking for clean clothes for Annie, who has vomited after eating chocolate all day. Michelle tells Mary to think about Annie for once and believes that Mary has taken drugs.

Den is two months behind on his VAT payments and Angie tells him if he sells the car that she should get half. Simon books a hotel room for him and Sharon. Mary has another court letter and Ali lets her work in the cab office but she struggles.

Mary is visited by Mr Atkinson, a court warrant officer, who orders her to pay £30 or be arrested. Dot and Ethel help and later Mary works in the café but at the end of the day, Ali is unable to help with any extra money.

Kelvin studies for exams but when Ian cannot find him, he accuses him of spending the day with Tina until he finds out Tina was at home with a cold. Mary continues to struggle with work in the café and cab office, which annoys Ali.

Sharon and Simon return from their weekend away. Barry and Colin discuss new hobby ideas that will allow them to spend more time together. Den and Angie almost get back together, until one of Den's lady friends appears, sending Angie into a furious rage.

Chris arrives following the accident at Mary's flat. Renovation work begins at The Dagmar. Sharon gets fed up of Angie being drunk all the time and says she cannot live with her anymore

Arthur goes to court. Lofty talks about having a baby with Michelle. Sharon wants to move back into the Vic.

Dot and Tom swap properties but Tom's belongings will not fit into the smaller flat so he insists that Dot store them in her hall! Dot refuses and blocks his path. Mary's mother, Edie, arrives and asks Mary for the whole truth. Sue is annoyed as Guizin's children will leave and she thinks they love her more than their own mother.

Pete is fined £200 for assaulting a police officer. Debbie and DS Rich hold their engagement party in the Vic. Angie vows to sort her life out and stop drinking. Mehmet returns and takes Guizin and the children home, which upsets Sue.

Ethel has started collecting odd coins she finds on the floor while cleaning at the Vic. Mary is arrested and taken to the Magistrate's Court for none payment of debt. Tony decides he's going to move back home to Trinidad and buys his flight ticket that afternoon. He tells Colin his plan but asks him not to tell Kelvin yet.

Colin finds out Barry spent the night with another man but later apologises for his jealousy as they have an open relationship. Den and Angie's divorce is finalised. Ethel asks Tom to speak to Pat about moving out but Pat still refuses. Tony tells Kelvin he is moving to Trinidad.

Lou and Pauline start to plan a joint birthday party for Vicki and belated wedding reception for Michelle and Lofty.

Pauline tells Michelle about agreeing to sell the meat for Den but Michelle advises against it so Pauline agrees not to do it. Michelle and Lofty then have their party and get a birthday card for Vicki from Arthur.

Walford is preparing for the general election. Ethel moves back into her old flat above the surgery as Pat moves back into the Vic. Naima isn't sure that she's done the right thing by cutting off her family.

Magda and Sharon return from a shopping trip together. Pauline talks to Michelle about Vicki's father having rights and maybe wanting custody of her one day, but Michelle dismisses Pauline adamant that Vicki's father is no longer in her life. Tom takes Dot out dancing.

Arthur tells Mary not to waste her vote in the general election. Barry eventually opens up to Colin about his health worries. Sue talks with Ali about IVF while Ali agrees to give her driving lessons. Sharon shows a few people the video of a drunken Angie, including Den, and then comes up with a plan.

Barry continues to worry as he waits for the results of his blood test. Michelle tells Pauline that she and Lofty are going to adopt Vicki. Angie breaks down upon watching the video of her drunken self and admits to Sharon she has a problem and that she needs to change.

Lofty asks Den for time off work whilst he and Michelle are interviewed by Social Services over Vicki's adoption. Pat flirts with Ali and asks if he wants company - Ali says he will think about it and leaves.

Arthur and Tom get competitive over the London in Bloom contest. Den asks Ian to do the catering in the Vic, unaware that Magda wants Ian to work for her. Ali worries that Sue is obsessed with having IVF and tells Kathy that he has become redundant in their relationship but he has needs and he asks Kathy for a casual relationship but she refuses.

The Vic and the Dagmar are decorated with flowers for the competition and Tom finds out the judges will be visiting the next day. Mary has a letter from her mother about Annie with some photos.

Pauline is worried about Arthur being unemployed and he realises that people will think he could have another nervous breakdown if he is unemployed again. Colin loses the key to his bicycle lock and he and Barry are questioned by police when Barry tries to cut through the chain with a hacksaw.

Carmel holds a jumble sale to raise money for the health centre and Willmott-Brown donates a honey-glazed ham for a raffle. After Magda and Angie talk, Magda tells Den that she thinks Angie wants him back.

Dot and Ethel look after baby Vicki and reminisce about their own childhoods.

Den is furious when he discovers graffiti on the Vic. Simon and Sharon are unsure about their relationship and ask people what they think of them together. Willmott-Brown worries that business in The Dagmar is slow. Rezaul tells Doctor Singh about his ambitions and then tells Naima the family have called and another of her cousins will be visiting her.
