Poté, co se v autě typu SUV, které je registrováno na osobu ze Středního východu, zabije jeho řidič, zjistí doktorka Brennanová a její tým, že pátrají po teroristovi...

Na pozemku soukromé školy je nalezeno na stromě rozkládající se tělo. Vše nasvědčuje trestnému činu, nikoliv sebevraždě. Nejprve je ale nutné zjistit, o čí ostatky se jedná, a pak se teprve může rozjet vyšetřování...

Veterinářka Denise Randallová objeví v žaludku a střevech zastřeleného černého medvěda lidskou ruku a úlomky kostí patřící muži, který byl s největší pravděpodobností rozřezán. Na místo činu přijíždí doktorka antropologie Temperance Brennanová z Jeffersonova institutu s agentem FBI Seeleyem Boothem. Místní šerif Chris Scutter ví o jediné osobě, která se již týden pohřešuje. Je to turistka Ann Noyesová. Strážce přírodního parku, indián Sherman Rivers dovede Brennanovou a Boothe až do míst, kde byl medvěd zastřelen. Doktorka s agentem nacházejí medvědí trus, který Brennanová posílají k analýze i s lidskými ostatky do Jeffersonova institutu. Její kolegové z institutu Zack Addy, Angela Montenegrová a Jack Hodgins objeví na kosterních pozůstatcích otisky lidského chrupu. To může znamenat jen jediné: vrah je kanibal!

V křoví za obchodním střediskem je nalezena mrtvolka šestiletého Charlieho Sanderse. Tým doktorky Brennanové nejprve zjistí, že trpěl dědičnou poruchou, a proto nemůže být synem údajné matky Margaret. Ta ho přijala za svého ke svým dvěma dětem, Shawnovi a Davidovi, které má v pěstounské péči. V případu jde navíc o sexuální zneužití, přičemž k vraždě došlo promáčknutím hrudníku. Poslední, kdo Charlieho viděl naživu, je jeho nevlastní bratr Shawn...

Angela dlouho přemlouvá doktorku Temperance Brennanovou, aby s ní šla večer do rapperského klubu, jehož majitelem je Randall Hall. Nakonec se doktorka nechá přemluvit, ale záhy se dostane do choulostivé debaty o domorodých genech, což si někteří barevní návštěvníci vztahují na sebe. Nakonec dojde ke rvačce, doktorka Brennanová se obratně brání a mrští jedním z násilníků o zeď. Ta se pozoruhodně snadno proboří, za ní se objeví úzký prostor a také napůl mumifikovaná mrtvola. Doktorka Brennanová, agent Booth a další členové týmu začnou ihned pracovat na identifikaci mrtvého, jehož tělo vykazuje jasné stopy přítomnosti amfetaminu. Zdá se, že drogu mrtvému někdo nasypal přímo do úst...

Doktorka Brennanová, pro agenta Bootha nejčastěji „Kůstka“, žádá o povolení, aby mohla nosit zbraň. Booth ale žádost zamítá, protože už jednou postřelila neozbrojeného muže. Sice v sebeobraně, ale přesto… Právě v té chvíli přichází za Boothem advokátka Amy Mortonová, jejíž klient Howard Abbs má být zanedlouho popraven. Byl odsouzen za surovou vraždu sedmnáctileté dívky April Wrightové. Přestože na rozdíl od advokátky je Booth prakticky přesvědčený, že muž vraždu spáchal, existuje přece jen několik nejasných okolností ve vyšetřování. Obrací se tedy na doktorku Brennanovou, která právě hodlala zasvětit víkend zajímavým kosterním pozůstatkům z jižní Francie. Temperance se ihned pustí do práce i se svými spolupracovníky. Znovu analyzuje předměty, které jsou součástí obžalovacího spisu, a brzy dochází k závěru, že dívka nebyla zavražděna tam, kde bylo její ubité tělo nalezeno… April na Temperance naléhá, aby přemluvila Bootha a společně požádali soudce o exhumaci těla dívky, která byla zavražděna před sedmi lety. Zatímco Mortonová je přesvědčená odpůrkyně trestu smrti, doktorka Brennanová je toho názoru, že po světě přece jen chodí někteří lidé, kteří tam nemají co dělat.

Mezitím se přiblížil termín popravy a obviněný už byl převeden do cely, kde má dostat poslední jídlo a také možnost rozloučit se s rodinou...

V lednici se najde rok stará kostra devatenáctileté Maggie Schillingové. Brennanová jako znalec obžaloby na základě faktů dokazuje, že Maggies svázanou v poutech drželi ve svém domě sadomasochističtí manželé Costellovi, kteří chtěli po Maggiiných rodičích výkupné. Jenže Maggie zamřela na předávkování drogami, které jí podávali, aby byla ticho, dřív než mohlo dojít k výměně. Znalcem obhajoby je profesor Stires, který si získá porotu, shazuje Brennanovou a zcela nepodloženě tvrdí, že se Maggie nechávala spoutat dobrovolně v rámci sexuálních hrátek a že se také sama předávkovala...

Večer před Štědrým dnem přinese agent Booth doktorce Brennanové do laboratoře soudního lékařství kostru, která byla nalezena v protiatomovém krytu z 50. let. To ovšem ještě netuší, že tu zůstane přes celé svátky. Zack totiž při řezání kostí spustí alarm, a protože Hodgins neměl právě při práci nasazenou masku, laboratoř se automaticky uzavře a celý tým se ocitne v nucené karanténě. Všichni musejí čekat na výsledky testů, jestli se někomu nedostal do těla zárodek smrtelné nemoci...

Během „vánočního“ rozjímání se Brennanová svěří, že nesnáší Vánoce, a Booth také o sobě něco odhalí...

Doktorka Brennanová a její spolupracovníci studují ostatky válečníka z doby kamenné, tedy před 15 000 lety. Zdá se, že by se mohlo jednat o příslušníka kmene Piktů, nález byl ale učiněn mnohem jižněji, kam se tito lidé obvykle nedostali. Uprostřed práce přichází z Los Angeles zpráva o tělesných ostatcích, které byly nalezeny na letištní ploše. Goodman tam posílá doktorku Brennanovou. Temperance a agent Booth brzy zjistí, že kojoty ohlodané ostatky patří mladé ženě, která prodělala celou řadu plastických operací, a to nejen na obličeji. Je nalezen i prsní implantát, podle něhož vyšetřovatelé najdou lékaře – doktora Antona Kostova – který mladou ženu jménem Rachel operoval. Jak se ukáže, byl zároveň i jejím klientem – Rachel totiž byla luxusní prostitutka na telefon...

Doktorka Brennanová natáčí rozhovor o své velice úspěšné detektivce “Zrozeni z kostí“. Reportérka neví, jaké by jí měla klást otázky, protože Temperance odpovídá se svou obvyklou přímostí a bez ohledu na to, jestli se to bude divákům líbit. Šokuje například prohlášením, že nikdy nechce mít děti. Vysvobodí ji až agent Booth, který ji odváží k ohořelému autu s lidským tělem za volantem...

Vyšetřovatelé se nejprve snaží zjistit totožnost mrtvé ženy. Ukáže se, že jde o Polinu Deckerovou, která ovšem v autě jela pravděpodobně se svým synem, jehož ohořelá bota se našla pod zadním sedadlem. Chlapec ale zmizel. Vzhledem k tomu, že jeho otec Carl Decker, s nímž se Polina nedávno rozešla, je odborníkem na vojenskou výstroj, domnívají se vyšetřovatelé, že by s ním a jeho chystanému svědectví u soudu proti jisté firmě mohl únos souviset. Decker byl navíc zařazen do programu na ochranu svědků.

Sestra Poliny vyšetřovatelům sdělí, že Polina se s manželem rozešla, protože měl poměr. Decker se ale i nadále stýkal se svým synem Donovanem, kterého podle všeho velice miluje. A asistent ministra Ken Weeks, který měl na starosti mužovu bezpečnost, ho nedávno ztratil z dohledu. Lze tedy předpokládat, že se Decker dozvěděl o tom, co potkalo jeho ženu i o tom, že jeho syn byl pravděpodobně unesen, a je připraven se pomstít...

V zapadlé uličce v neblaze proslulé čtvrti města je nalezeno mrtvé tělo, oblečené do zvláštního úboru. Agent FBI Booth a tým doktorky Brennanová se dávají do práce a brzy zjistí, že se jedná o sedmnáctiletého Warrena Grangera, který je už dva měsíce pohřešován. Chlapec byl surově zabit ranou ostrým předmětem do týla a pak vyhozen z okna...

Vyšetřovatelé navštěvují jeho matku a otčíma, který tvrdí, že Warren byl uzavřený a mlčenlivý chlapec, který neměl ani žádné kamarády. V jeho pokoji objeví Booth velké množství komiksů, které mladík nejen četl, ale i sám psal. Kostým své postavy „Občana 14“ měl dokonce na sobě v den své smrti. Při prohlížení Warrenova komiksu si vyšetřovatelé všimnou postavy ženy, které autor říká „Zářivá“. Proti ní se v ději vyskytuje zvrhlík. Bylo by jistě zajímavé vědět, kdo byl předlohou pro tyto postavy...

Agent FBI Booth a doktorka Brennanová jsou povoláni do salvadorské čtvrti, kde byl za dopravní přestupek zadržen muž a v kufru jeho vozu bylo zpola rozložené tělo. Navíc se ukáže, že muž patří k velmi nebezpečnému gangu „Mara muerte“.

V mrtvole z kufru je identifikována mladá žena, jejíž tělo spočívalo v zemi asi šest měsíců. Jedná se pravděpodobně o ženu ze Střední Ameriky, která byla těhotná a zemřela v důsledku prudkého úderu do hlavy. Ještě na místě nálezu se rozpoutá přestřelka, kdosi střílí z projíždějícího auta. Zadržený muž prchá, agent Booth ho pronásleduje, ale gangster nakonec uteče...

Zdá se, že přestřelku rozpoutali pravděpodobně sami členové gangu „Mara muerte“ proto, aby mohl zadržený uprchnout. Podrobné studium mrtvého těla a všech biologických stop, které se na něm najdou, zavede policisty do domu senátora Alana Cormana, který je sice nepřítelem imigrantů, ve svém domě je ale často zaměstnává. Momentálně u něj pracuje například Salvadorec Hector a během rozhovoru senátorův syn Logan na fotografii pozná uprchlíka z auta: mohlo by se jednat o Josého Vargase...

Vyšetřovatelé zjistí, že mrtvola dívky byla původně zakopána na veřejné zahradě, pak ji ale José chtěl převézt na jiné místo. V zahradě se ale najdou stopy ještě po další mrtvole, kterou Booth s doktorkou objeví zakopanou v senátorově zahradě. Tentokrát se jedná o muže, který má sice v těle stopy po dávném střelném zranění, zemřel však přirozenou smrtí na rakovinu...

Vzápětí je potlučený José vyhozen z auta. Je dopraven do nemocnice, tam ho policisté vyslýchají a dozvědí se, že oba mrtví byli příbuzní, jednalo se o otce a o dceru. José je mužův syn a dívčin bratr...

Tým doktorky Brennanové je pověřen vyšetřováním pádu soukromého letadla, které se zřítilo na golfové hřiště. Jedná se očividně o nehodu, jde ale o to, že kromě pěti pasažérů – z nichž dva jsou významní čínští diplomaté a komunističtí pohlaváři – byly nalezeny ještě ostatky šesté osoby, která na palubě oficiálně neměla co dělat. Goodman dává svým lidem pokyn, aby se soustředili na identifikaci této osoby.

Při pátrání na místě nehody ale kromě ohořelých pozůstatků šesti pasažérů objeví doktorka Brennanová ještě tři úlomky kostí, které ohořelé nebyly. Zdá se, že by se mohlo jednat o oběť vraždy. Kosti vykazují zářezy kuchyňským nožem...

Doktorka se soukromě obrátí na agenta Bootha, který s nimi tentokrát nepracuje a víc než šestému tajemnému pasažérovi na palubě se věnuje záhadnému mrtvému na zemi. Právě když je Temperance u Bootha, přichází sem mladý muž jménem Jessie Kane, který prohlašuje, že by se mohlo jednat o jeho otce Maxe Kanea, který záhadně zmizel před pěti lety...

V Jeffersonově ústavu právě zkoumají pozůstatky mladé Penny Hamiltonové, které vrah vydloubl oči, podřízl ji kapesním nožem se zubem na čepeli, rozřezal její tělo a pohodil je psům. Zvláštní agent FBI Seeley Booth se s podobnou vraždou setkal už před dvěma roky, ale podezřelý Kevin Hollings tenkrát nebyl odsouzen... Brennanová s Boothem jdou za Hollingsem a najdou u něj sbírku klíčů. Tým zjistí, že některý z klíčů mohl vrah použít k vydloubnutí očí. Druhým případem je tělo mafiána, Cuchiniho, které vyplavilo moře. Cuchini zmizel před šesti lety. Tým najde na kostech stopy kulek a Booth se dozví, že Cuchini byl na kordy s mafiánským klanem Romanových, kteří ho zřejmě dali zabít. Beton, který stáhl jeho mrtvolu do hloubky, se vyrábí v továrně Carla Romana. Booth představí doktorce Temperance Brennanové agenta FBI Jamieho Kentona, který má případ Cuchiniho na starosti.

Brennanová si po internetu smluví schůzku s Davidem Simmonsem, kterého osobně nezná. Když přichází na schůzku, kdosi na ni vystřelí...

Doktorka Temperance Brennanová je společně se zvláštním agentem FBI Selleym Boothem přivolána k ostatkům těla mladé ženy, které se najde na dně podzemní šachty. Roztříštilo se pádem z výšky. Brennanovou a Boothe sleduje neznámý muž, ale když se za ním pustí, on jim uteče. Ostatky patří filmařce Marni Hunterové, jež chtěla ve svém dokumentu ukázat život lidí, kteří přebývají v podzemí. Brennanová má podezření, že Marni byla shozena dolů v bezvědomí. Tým Jeffersonova institutu najde v její lebce prasklinu způsobenou ostrým špičatým předmětem. Snoubenec Phil Garfield vypoví, že měli před svatbou. Na Marninině sestříhaném videu, které Garfield poskytne vyšetřovatelům, uvidí Brennanová muže, který jim v podzemí unikl. Sociální pracovnice Helen Bronsonová, která lidem dole pomáhá, ji k němu zavede. Harold je něco jako starosta podzemního města. Brennanová s Boothem u něj najdou Marnininu videokameru a její zakrvácené šatstvo...

Členka týmu Jeffersonova institutu Angela Montenegrová odjíždí na dovolenou do pouště u hranic s Mexikem se svým přítelem a fotografem Kirkem Persingerem. Kirk se jednoho dne vydá fotografovat do pouště s modelkou a průvodkyní Dani. Angela volá doktorce Temperance Brennanové, že na šerifově verandě se objevila krabice s lidskou lebkou, a prosí ji, aby za ní přijela. Když Brennanová dorazí, Angela jí s obavami oznámí, že se Kirk s Dani ještě nevrátili...

Za Angelou přijíždí i zvláštní agent FBI Seeley Booth. Z expertíz vyplyne, že lebka vykazuje střelnou ránu a že patří Kirkovi. Ve vlasech jsou nalezeny stopy drogy peyote. Kirk se prý občas účastnil indiánských obřadů. Drogu mu dodával jeho kamarád a místní umělec Wayne Kellogg. Když Kellogga Brennanová a Booth navštíví, ten nařčení odmítá. Indián Alex Joseph, který bydlí s Dani v karavanu, jim předá její fotografii se šerifem Benem Dawesem. Později Booth zjistí, že džíp stojící u karavanu si Alex vypůjčil od Kellogga. Společně vyjedou do pouště hledat Dani a najdou tam Kirkův fotoaparát. Podle fotografií z něj zjistí, že Kirk fotografoval na místě vzdáleném tři sta kilometrů od místa, kde byly nalezeny jeho ostatky. Tam najdou na skále stopy Kirkovy krve a stopy po pneumatikách džípu, které náhle končí u přistávací dráhy...

Doktorka Temperance Brennanová a zvláštní agent FBI Seeley Booth jsou přivoláni do jednoho z národních parků na pobřeží k případu utonutí Teda Maceyho. Podle pověsti je v parku ukryt pirátský poklad. Maceymu kdosi zlomil vaz. Mrtvý držel v ruce 300 let starou kůstku prstu muže, který trpěl syfilidou. Ted Macey spolu s Gilesem Hardwickem řídili v parku práce při hledání pokladu a byli financováni boháčem a dobrodruhem Bransonem Rosem. Brennanová s Boothem se dozvědí, že již dříve při hledání pokladu zahynulo několik osob. S pomocí tamního nejlepšího potápěče Dana McGinnise, jemuž v šachtě zahynul bratr, se Jack Hodgins z Jeffersonova ústavu spustí ve skafandru do šachty. Najde na dně 300 let starou kostru muže, který měl kurděje a syfilis. Kostru převezou do Jeffersonova ústavu, ale hlásí se o ní Rose, jemuž prý všechno nalezené v šachtě patří. Ústav ji nevydá, ale kostra během noci zmizí...

Doktorka Temperance Brennanová pomáhá v New Orleans identifikovat těla mrtvých po hurikánu Katrina. Na sál přivezou mrtvolu muže s číslem 361, nalezenou v bahně, jeho rentgenové snímky a fotografie pošle Kůstka do Jeffersonova ústavu. Neworleanský lékař Graham Legiere ji pozve na večeři. To je ale to poslední, na co si teď vzpomíná... Když se za dva dny probudí na podlaze, je zakrvácená, zraněná a z ucha má vytrženou náušnici. Na předchozí den si vůbec nepamatuje. Když se vzpamatuje, jde se zvláštním agentem FBI Seeleyem Boothem do restaurace. Číšník jí připomene, že tam byla se zdravotníkem Samem Potterem, který vyznává woodoo...

Sam jí říká, že ho pozvala na večeři poté, co našla v ústech mrtvoly č. 361 černý gumovník, který patří k kouzelnickým praktikám woodoo. Sam jí také vypráví o sektě Rouge, která na rozdíl od woodoo způsobuje zlo. Černý gumovník prodává ve městě pouze Richard Benoit a Brennanová má pocit, že ho zná.. V jeho domě má Brennanová záblesky vzpomínek a tvrdí Boothovi, že se tam něco zlého stalo a že někdo utekl. Pak ajdou Legiera ukřižovaného na stěně. Stal se obětí woodoo...

Booth najde v Legierově pokoji náušnici Brennanové. Vyšetřování vraždy se ujímá detektiv Rose Hardingová. Brennanová najde ve svém hotelovém pokoji váček gris-gris s masem, kůží, lidským zubem a mušlemi. Potter jí vysvětlí, že je to vzkaz, že má na č. 361 zapomenout. Když se Brennanová vrátí do nemocnice, doktor James Embry jí tvrdí, že mrtvola č. 361 neexistuje. I doprovodný spis zmizel. Hardingová najde v Legierově pokoji krev Brennanové a na jejím oblečení zase jeho krev, a proto ji zatýká...

Brennanová s Boothem a týmem šprtů prošetřují části těla, jež byly nalezeny na stavbě zalité v betonu. Booth si myslí, že vrahem oběti je člen rodiny napojené na organizovaný zločin Hugh Kennedy. Údajné tvrzení jisté lovkyně odměn, že Hugh Kennedy uhořel při výbuchu svého auta, Bootha nezastaví a dává se jej stopovat. Plán mu však nevychází úplně podle jeho představ a Kennedym jej unese. Brennanová se tedy snaží nalézt Bootha dříve, než jej potká stejný osud, jako první oběť...

Brennanová s Boothem se vydávají na místo činu, kde byl nalezen muž v kráteru. Podle jeho ostatků je viditelné, že zřejmě spadl z velké výšky bez padáku. Ostatky jsou tedy odeslány do Jeffersonianu, kde je Hodgins podrobí analýze. Z jeho výsledků jsou všichni přesvědčeni, že oběť pobývala nějaký čas ve vesmíru. Zatímco Hodgins, jako konspirační teoretik, vytahuje jednu teorii o mimozemském životě a vládním spiknutí za druhou, zjišťují Brennanová s Boothem totožnost oběti a dostávají se do křížku s NASA...

Ve starém kamenném domě byly nalezeny kosti, které zvláštně světélkují. Na místo činu jsou tedy povoláni Brennanová s Boothem. Ti v obavě, že by mohly být kosti radioaktivní, si oblečou ochranný oblek a vstoupí do domu. Nalezené kosti však radioaktivní nejsou. Na Jeffersonianu určí identitu oběti, jíž patřily kosti. Vyšetřování vraždy je zavede k přátelům oběti, kteří jsou šokováni, že se jeden z nich stal obětí vraždy...

Nalezené tělesné ostatky, jež jsou přisuzovány asi tak desetileté dívce, byly nalezeny ve stánku s potravinami. Při zrekonstruování obličeje odhalí Angela, že ostatky patřili ženě ve věku zhruba 80 let. Brennanin tým však odhaluje, že oběť trpěla nemocí, jež se projevuje zrychlením stárnutím a ve skutečnosti jí bylo 22 let. Vyšetřování pak nadále pokračuje. Hodgins a Angela chystají svatbu a Booth s Brennanovou jim mají jít za svědky. Ne však úplně všechno vychází, tak jak si naplánovali...

Když partě mladých lidí do čelního skla vrazí lebka, odražená od kamiónů, jsou na místo povolání Dr. Brennenová a agent Booth. Podle rýh na lebce zjistí, že patří lidským zubům. Zdá se, že budou mít čest s kanibalem.

Žena středních let zahyne při výbuchu auta následkem nastražené výbušniny. V laboratoři poté objeví, že se jedná o radikální aktivistku, která byla stíhaná před třiceti lety za vraždu. Nyní si změnila identitu a snaží se žít novým životem, ale jak se později ukáže, rodina o jejím předchozím životě neví.

Angela se rozhodle, že se nechá zhypnotizovat, aby si vzpomněla na jméno svého bývalého manžela, mohla ho tak vystopovat a rozvést se s ním.

Dr. Brennenová a agent Booth chodí na povinné návštěvy psychoterapeuta, kvůli zatknutí otce Dr. Brennenové agentem Boothem, a kvůli častým neshodám.

Mezitím bylo nalezeno tělo, které má anomálně vysokou teplotu těla, z toho Dr. Saroyanová vydedukovala, že tělo bylo vařeno.

V jednom zábavním parku se uprostřed jedné halloweenské atrakce, což je v podstatě bludiště ze slaměných kupek, najde jeden kluk mumii. Dr. Brennenová potvrdí, že se jedná o skutečné lidské tělo. V Jeffersoniu se ukáže, že mumie byla mumifikovaná cedrovým olejem. Později se v Jeffersoniu objeví rodiče, kteří pohřešují svoji dceru s tím, že tělo je určitě jejich dcery, ačkoliv jejich dcera je pohřešovaná týden a nalezená mumie je stará přes rok. Během vyšetřování je nalezena další mumie v zábavním parku, v domě hrůzy.

V Jeffersonu ve spalovně bylo nalezeno tělo. Angela okamžitě podle lebky pozná, kdo je oběťí. Všechny důkazy zatím ukazují, že vrah je jeden ze zaměstnanců Jeffersonu.

Parta bývalých spolužáků na slučáku vykopou časovou schránku, kterou před 20-ti lety rituálně pohřbili, uvnitř ale místo ukrytých věcí našli lidské ostatky. V Jeffersonu pak objevili, že to byl jeden ze spolužáků, který před 20-ti lety zmizel.

Dr. Brennenová a agent Booth pokračují ve svých povinných pravidelných sezení s psychoterapeutem, jsou v rozepře, protože Dr. Brennenová svěřila Boothovi ponižující historku z mládí a on se ji začal smát. Bude se snažit ji také nějakou na sebe prozradit na usmířenou, ale nedaří se mu najít žádnou skutečně pikantní.

Je nalezeno lidské tělo, které má vyříznutá kolena. Kolena dojdou Dr. Brennenové poštou.

Přítelkyně Russe požádá Dr. Brennenovou, zda-li by mohla kontaktovat svého bratra, protože její dcera onemocněla a chce ho vidět. Ten bohužel nemůže dorazit, protože je po něm vyhlášeno pátrání.

Další nalezené tělo patří Santu Klausovi, alespoň tomu dosavadní důkazy odpovídají. Otec Dr. Brennenové ji požádal, zda by nemohla zařídit, aby celá jejich rodina byla na Vánoce spolu. Nejprve se to zdá nemožné, ale nakonec se rozhodne, že to uskuteční. Požádá soudkyni Caroline o povolení, ta požaduje na oplátku od Dr. Brennenové, aby se políbila s agentem Boothem.

V přírodní rezervaci je v bahnitém jezírku nalezeno tělo. Později ho identifikují jako jednoho známého motorkáře. To Dr. Brennenovou a agenta Bootha zavede na jedno profesionální závodiště.

Psychoterapeut Sweets pozve Dr. Brennenovou a agenta Bootha na dvojrande, oni věří, že tohle je poslední úkol a už se nemusí těchto povinných sezení účastnit.

The body of the host of a popular reality TV show is found partially decomposed in an outhouse, and Booth and Brennan must find out who the killer is. Meanwhile, Booth learns that Brennan is juggling two relationships.

Parker, Booth's son, discovers a corpse's finger in a bird's nest, causing the team to launch an investigation to try to find the rest of the body. After finding the corpse, the team discovers that the death was caused by a dog, leading them to an illegal dog fighting ring and a search for the killer dog and its owner.

The pieces of a dismembered body are found lying in a purple pool of water, except the head is missing. The team finds that the body belongs to Jared Addison, a science fiction writer who had several mental problems. With Sweets' help, several suspects are hunted down, however the team has trouble finding enough evidence with the victim's head still missing.

The remains of a despised office manager are discovered in an elevator shaft, and Booth and Brennan must figure out which employee killed him. After some investigating, they find that the manager had more than a fair share of complaints on file. Meanwhile, Angela and Hodgins try to make peace in the lab after their break-up.

Booth and Brennan go to investigate a body found in the Chesapeake Bay. After arriving, they find only the upper torso, giving the team little to work with other than remnants of the victim's breast implants. Brennan and Booth are led to a small church in Maryland, where they find that the victim was a pastor. When the team finds the lower half of the body, they learn that their initial assumptions may not been incorrect.

When the smashed remains of a well known artist are found in an impounded junkyard car, Booth and Brennan are on the case to find out if foul play is to blame for his death. With suspects ranging from the artist’s rival to his own assistant, the team must race

against the clock to find evidence of murder before the car is relinquished and put on exhibit as the sculptor’s ultimate display of self-sacrifice for the sake of his art.

Booth’s Brother Jared Booth and Brennan investigate the scene where a body was uncovered during a botched practice police raid. The team identifies the body as a struggling inventor’s father who had recently reunited with his son. But when a second body surfaces, the team is led on a trail of deception to find out who was the actual con-man in the inventor’s life. Clark Edison returns to the lab, and he and Hodgins work on piecing together blueprints from one of the inventor’s potentially valuable inventions.

A shallow grave holds the remains of conjoined twins; Booth and Brennan infiltrate a circus community after they discover that the twins were jugglers there.

When a volunteer fireman is murdered at an ice rink, Booth and Brennan begin the investigation, but Booth must excuse himself due to a conflict of interest. When details come to light, Booth becomes a suspect in the homicide.

While trapped and trying to escape from a ship in the middle of the ocean, Booth is haunted by strange hallucinations.

The team investigates a sci-fi convention when a woman in a medieval princess dress is found murdered. With Booth's back injured, Agent Payton Perotta steps in once again to help

When newlyweds encounter a corpse while bungee-jumping off of a bridge, Brennan and Booth are sent to investigate. After determine the cause of death was not suicide, the team at the Jeffersonian discover an unknown substance coming from the body. This sends the lab into lockdown and have only 24 hours to uncover the murderer before the body disintegrates.

The body of a pregnant 16-year-old athlete found buried in a mound of salt in a city de-icing truck leads Booth and Brennan to the discovery that many of her teammates are pregnant or have babies after a pregnancy pact.

When the half-eaten body of Cam's former fiancee is found in the tiger cage at the zoo, Booth and Brennan uncover that his death was far from accidental. Now the team must put the pieces of the fiancee's final day back together, including hypnotizing a suspect in order to spark his memory.

Booth and Brennan are sent to investigate when human remains are found during a photo shoot. When the team uncovers a meteorite in the victim's ear, they are led to the Collar Institute of Science in D.C.

When a Jeffersonian coworker dies of heart failure, the entire team goes to the wake where, upon viewing the body, Brennan realizes the death was no accident.

Booth's detective friend from Tokyo, Ken Nakamura, calls him when his sister, Sachi, goes missing while in Washington, D.C. With Brennan, Booth investigates her disappearance.

When a human body is found inside the strung up Otter mascot uniform of a rival school, Brennan and Booth investigate whether the body inside the costume was dead beforehand, or killed during a Middlesex University bonfire event. The body is identified as Jimmy “Beaver” Bouvier, a fraternity brother at Middlesex University. When Brennan and Booth question his fraternity brothers, they learn that Beaver had a money-making operation on the side and was making a killing of his own. Meanwhile, Booth offers to help his brother Jared find a new job after being dishonorably discharged from the Navy.

The team is on the case when human remains are found inside a barrel of wine during a wine tasting. When the victim turns out to be a wine critic whose scathing reviews were capable of sending a vineyard to its ruin, everyone from the winery's owner to the victim's own wife becomes a suspect.

In the season finale, a dead body is found at a club called "The Lab." The team has to do some unexpected and unusual things that have to do with this club. Brennan and Booth may become a couple.

It's been six weeks since Booth and Brennan have seen each other. Booth has been recovering from brain surgery, and Brennan has been on a dig in Guatemala. Angela's psychic, Avalon Harmonia reveals while reading Angela's tarot cards that there are multiple bodies buried under a Washington,DC fountain. Angela shares the information with Brennan and Booth, but they're both a little skeptical. The lead pans out, and the duo find the remains of 11 bodies exactly where the psychic said they would be. Meanwhile, Sweets has certified Booth mentally fit to return to duty after his brain surgery, but Booth is still experiencing some side effects from the coma.

Brennan and Booth are asked to investigate the death of a man who was murdered for the secret contents of his briefcase. Děj nás zavádí do roku 1950 v Hollywoodu. Brennanová je detektivem u losangeleské policie a musí čelit mimo jiné i sexuálnímu harašení ze strany kolegů. Booth je zlodějem šperků a v novém případu je obviněn z vraždy bohatého prominenta. Brennanové na tom něco nehraje a proto se s Boothem spojí, aby našla pravého vraha.

Týmu poskytuje své odborné znalosti Avalon Harmonia, v případu pozůstatků těla senzibila hnijícího v kmenu stromu. Hodgins je rozhněván, protože tvrdí, že viděl ducha zesnulého kolegy Sweetse. Booth a Brennanová mají rozdílné názory na Christinina nového imaginárního kamaráda. Tým zavzpomíná na Sweetse v den výročí jeho narozenin.
