So I am now 100% convinced that not even David Lynch understands Twin Peaks. I have watched a bunch of interviews and I have read the various bits of trivia concerning the series over the past year or two. The show started off on a whim and there was no real plan for how it would end. In fact, there was no desire to reveal the murderer at all. That was done out of pressure from the network. Plus, 'Bob' was a happy accident as Lynch simply liked the look of a creepy guy who worked on the the set crew. Suddenly that character became the main focus of the show because of a snap decision during filming. It wasn't planned whatsoever. So this is all the proof you need that there isn't much deep thought behind this show. When Lynch was asked about the owls and what they mean, he said he didn't know. It was Mark Frost's idea. Whenever Lynch is asked about the unresolved fate of a character, he says that it's up to the viewer to decide. HE DOESN'T KNOW! So while it's fun to have theories and participate on message boards trying to decipher all the "clues", there are no answers. It's a fun show to watch but really it's just a long string of unexplainable wackiness. Lynch is having fun watching everybody try and figure out something that has no answers.

I love the idea Bob was created because Lynch saw a creepy looking guy on the set. That's hilarious.
I dunno about seasons 1 and 2 - they seemed to make reasonable sense - but I got the feeling season 3 was a deliberate piss-take by Lynch and Frost. I'm sure Lynch knew the season made zero sense but he's managed to convince Showtime to fund it. Ha ha. David Lynch, you sly old dog.

It doesn't have to make sense for me to watch another season. I just like the style and the wackiness. I think that's how most of us feel. Trying to figure out the "clues" is a waste of time, though. Even if Lynch comes up with explanations (unlikely) he could completely change his mind the next day. And if there is a new season someday, I guarantee it will end in an ambiguous fashion like it always does.

As you know, Fire Walk with Me was a prequel.

But now with such an extensive education in motor vehicle theory you can use that knowledge to become a professional driver for Uber and use your new income to upgrade to Twin Peaks on Blu-ray, so you can see every nuance and every deleted scene. Then people will consider you to be a TRUE expert.

I hope you get to watch it because you seem passionate about it. I've never seen anyone post so much detail about a show they've never seen. In fact, you seem to know what it all means. 😆 I enjoy reading your posts.
The show is on certain bittorrent sites if you know where to look.
