Matt Baker takes his mum Janice and dad Mike on some memorable excursions around the North East, as they go behind the scenes at Bamburgh Castle.

The Bakers visit the Beamish Living Museum, where Matt gets a crash course in driving a 1900s tram and sees how an entire farmhouse has been moved stone by stone. Janice gets to take a Shetland pit-pony for a walk and the family get a busman's holiday lending a hand with some stubborn pigs on a 1940s farm.

The Bakers head to the World Heritage listed Durham Cathedral for an unforgettable behind-the-scenes trip. Matt goes on an underwater treasure hunt, and the whole family try out as choristers.

The Bakers head to Hexham, home to one of the UK's most scenic racecourses. After getting a rare glimpse into the world of the colourful characters involved in race day, Matt is off to the stables and saddles up for a ride on a winning horse.

Join Matt Baker, his mum Janice and dad Mike on a gloriously festive adventure to County Durham's spectacular Raby Castle as they prepare for Christmas 2022

In the opening episode, they visit Lindisfarne, home to important monuments, heritage crafts and rare wildlife. After visiting the historic castle, the Bakers get a taste of island life at Lindisfarne's only distillery, and investigate the traditions behind its upturned herring boat huts. Janice helps out in a walled garden created by a trailblazing female horticulturist.

The Bakers are given a special tour of James Herriot's home by his son Jim, and Matt takes to the skies for a stunning aerial view of the county by glider. Janice meets the town's yarn-bombing guerrilla knitters and visits a stunning lavender farm with Matt. Finally, the Bakers take in what Herriot dubbed the finest view in England, at Sutton Bank.

The Bakers are greeted by the Duchess of Northumberland on a visit to Alnwick Castle, where Matt is granted special access to the records tower, which holds precious documents detailing its role in major historical events. Janice follows in the footsteps of the castle's archers of old, trying her hand with a bow and arrow in the grounds, and the family meet the Duke's official piper for the ultimate lesson on the ancient Northumbrian pipes.

Matt, Mike and Janice head to County Durham's Bowes Museum, where they pick an ancient artwork to hang on the walls and bring a marvellous mechanical swan back to life.

The Bakers explore Northumberland's Ford and Etal estates, where they meet a flock of rare four-horned Hebridean sheep and help maintain one of the country's few working watermills. Janice hitches a lift in a sidecar during a vintage motorcycle run, and the family gets up close and personal with the residents at one of the north of England's largest stables of heavy horses.

In Ushaw, the Bakers head to the stunning Ushaw House, get a glimpse of the treasures buried with a saint and help out at an alpaca farm.

On their festive trip to the Lake District the Bakers blow glass baubles, visit Beatrix Potter's hilltop home and ride a 19th-century gondola.

On their Yuletide trip to York, the Bakers visit the famous Bettys Café Tea Rooms, have a ramble down The Shambles and create a medieval Christmas decoration.

The Bakers explore more exceptional sights in the north of England. At the Northumberland County Show, they lend a hand prepping the animals.

The Bakers help out at the Durham Regatta, discover the secrets of Durham Castle and explore Durham University Botanic Garden's exotic wonders.

In Northumberland, the Bakers explore Lord William Armstrong's pioneering hydro-electric inventions at Cragside House and Gardens and Cragend Farm

In Scarborough, the Bakers head to Yorkshire's oldest ice cream shop, explore the castle's wondrous past and enjoy a unique sight at Peasholm Park.

In the Yorkshire Wolds, the Bakers go puffin watching at Bempton Cliffs, explore the Sledmere Estate and enjoy an unspoilt experience of the Wolds near Pocklington

In Kielder, the Bakers get up close with majestic raptors, visit Kielder Water and have an out-of-this-world experience at the observatory.
