After Cell War from Innocent Zero leaves, a rumor that Mash can't use magic begins to spread around the school. On the other hand, Mash and his friends win the battle against Magia Lupus and take Lang Dorm's coins for the Alder Dorm, thus bringing them a step closer to becoming Divine Visionaries. After school, they celebrate their victory with a party with Abel and Abyss joining them, when an owl suddenly appears and drops off a letter...

The Divine Visionary Selection Exam finally begins. Traditionally, only those who have collected five or more coins were allowed to take the selection exam, but with Innocent Zero's interfering and the exam being accelerated this year, anybody with three or more coins is qualified to take the exam. Mash, Finn, Lance, and Dot, now qualified to take the exam, challenge themselves to a dead-or-alive qualifying round, also known as "Deadervant's Haunt."

Mash and his friends safely passed the first round of the selection exam and were formed into a team of three out of the nine people who passed. Their next challenge is “The Life Crystal,” a competition where teams must simply break the other teams’ crystals. However, two of the three people on Mash's team (consisting of him, Dot, and Finn) break the crystals given to them before the challenge even starts.
