Here's the link to a SoapOperaNews.net article of a couple days ago that states the following regarding a currently-in-production The CW Dark Shadows: Reincarnation series:
The creepy and intriguing world surrounding the Collins family of Collinsport, Maine is coming back to television screens! // The CW has put in production a sequel to the original American gothic soap “Dark Shadows” that ran from 1966 to 1971 on ABC. “Dark Shadows: Reincarnation” will be a modern-day continuation of the original story which centered around the Collins family and the strange and supernatural occurrences in their town. // The CW sequel’s pilot is being written by self-proclaimed superfan Mark B. Perry (Ghost Whisper, Revenge). Perry will also executive produce along with Amasia Entertainment's Michael Helfant, Bradley Gallo and Tracy Mercer, as well as Tracy and Cathy Curtis, the daughters of series creator Dan Curtis....
I'll definitely be interested in checking that out, to see what the approach and vibe is like.

Me too. I liked the failed 90s version too, and was sorry to see it cancelled so soon. Great cast - Ben Cross, Roy Thinnes, Jean Simmons, Barbara Steele, and a very young Joseph Gordon Levitt playing David. A college acquaintance of mine (Ely Pouget) also appeared in it which added to the fun for me.
