He ( Anthony George) and immensely beautiful and talented Nancy Barrett had no chemistry together. Or almost none. All they seemed to each other was respectively passive. No feeling of the spark of powerful romance their characters once had for each other. The second Burke was still supposed to be same rich guy she had fallen for. Burke #1 had been the one Carolyn had been romantic to. Burke #2 did score far better with Vicki as Burke #1 had. But when it came to Carolyn--not even close to anything! It was all George's fault. When Carolyn scripted told Vicki that she was not jealous of the latter's romance with Burke ( number 2 now) the great Miss. Barrett was excellent in the scene. The problem is you did not feel that the second Burke was in any way her desired old former flame. It was even possible to think Carolyn was only thinking of Burke number one when she told Vic this.
There was even a more direct scene than this. Burke came to talk to Liz about buying Vicki a house. Carolyn talked to Burke and gave off the message that she was ok with Burke now all into Vicki. Barrett was great and brilliant in this scene too. But not for a second did you feel AG had any feelings ever and whatsoever for this super great lady.

Gorgeous Diana Millay ( Laura Collins) made an appearance on the Doug McClure western hit The Virginian in 1964. But McClure did not actually star opposite her in this ep she guested in. Anthony George regularly worked with McLure on the previous series Checkmate ( they played detectives). If the writers of DS did not know that McLure did not actually star in Millay's great (only from her) Virginian ep ( save for the typical credits) they could have had AG joke in the 1967 Barn eps about he and Laura knew the same detective years ago. It would not have made any sense for the 1897 Laura Collins to consider Burke Devlin!

Did checking. McClure really bombed out. No work ever apparently with the great Miss.Millay!
