Discuss Thirty Cases of Major Zema

Item: 30 případů majora Zemana

Language: cs-CZ

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: This series should be divided into 3 seasons, each season containing 10 episodes. Unfortunately, there is only 1 season containing 30 episodes.

Please delete episodes 11-30 of season 1. Then I will create 2 new seasons and add the correct set of episodes to each.

If want us to split them into seasons, we need proof that they were originally released as three seasons. The best source I have right now is this: https://www.ceskatelevize.cz/porady/902206-tricet-pripadu-majora-zemana/ and they do not split them into seasons.

Hello,

thank you for your response regarding the series 30 případů majora Zemana. I understand your concerns and would like to provide additional clarification and supporting evidence that this series was indeed originally broadcast as three separate seasons.

Here is the breakdown of the original air dates for each season:

  • Season 1: 11th January 1976 – 12th February 1976
  • Season 2: 3rd April 1977 – 5th June 1977
  • Season 3: 26th December 1979 – 24th February 1980

These air dates correspond to the original release schedule and clearly indicate three distinct seasons.

For reference, I have included the following sources which confirm this information:

  1. Wikipedia (Czech) – Refer to the summary section on the right-hand side.
  2. PDF Document – A detailed list of the episodes with their respective air dates.
  3. ČSFD – Czech-Slovak Film Database.
  4. SerialZone – Lists the episodes divided into seasons with respective air dates.

I believe these sources substantiate the case for dividing the series into three seasons.

Thank you for your time and assistance in maintaining the accuracy of the database.

This series was produced between 1974-1979 and from the beginning was intended as a 30-part series (as indicated by the series name each episode describes one criminal case and the series gradually covers the period between 1945-1973, i.e. from the end of World War II to the present day = the beginning of the series production). The individual episodes are numbered 1-30 (see full on-screen credits here) without any indication of a division into seasons, and the same applies to the TV programmes of the time.

As for the sources you mention then neither is a primary source. Wikipedia and serialzone are user contributed databases, the PDF list of episodes is fan made and CSFD.cz, while a commercial database, has its own rules for breaking down content into seasons that very often do not match TMDB rules. Btw. the linked pdf even shows that whenever another batch of episodes was completed, it was broadcast without intermission after a full rerun of the previous episodes, not as a typical follow-up season.

It's also worth noting that even the current owner of the broadcast rights to the series considers it a single season (though even in this case, it's not the primary source of information - that can be only the on-screen credits and the TV programs and press of the time).
