Discuss The Up Series

Item: (4x3)

Language: en-US

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: Dear administrators,

I would like to request to delete this episode ("Episode 3" of season 4 of The Up Series), because of the research as shown below.

Throughout the decades, I have watched the entirety of the series, and as far as I know there never was a third part for 28 Up (which translates to the 1984 season of The Up Series).

User LV added this part last August after the entire series was already complete on The Movie Database.

My guess is that he based this on the way Prime Video is offering the series, in which they have part 1, 2, and 3 for 28 Up. This is listed as episodes 4 to 6 of The Up Series in their catalog: https://www.amazon.com/The-Up-Series/dp/B074MGWDPF/

They also have a different listing of the same episodes, including content descriptions: https://www.amazon.com/28-Up-Season-1/dp/B0094D5KKO/

The first part in the way Prime Video offers it, is simply a summary and compilation of the previous years. This is definitely not part of the series itself. Whether it could be regarded as a special episode I would leave to others.

This is also cemented by the runtimes listed in the Prime Video catalog. The total runtime contradicts all other sources I can find (which I will list below). On Prime Video, part 1 is 39 minutes, part 2 is 61 minutes, and part 3 is 73 minutes. This comes to a total of 173 minutes, contradicting the runtime found in other sources which all say is 136 minutes. The total runtime on Prime Video also far exceeds the runtimes of the other installments (years) of the series.

As far as the other sources go, which contradict Prime Video:

The original 28 Up VHS lists a runtime of 2 hours and 16 minutes (136 minutes): https://www.amazon.com/28-Up-VHS-Bruce-Balden/dp/630212185X

IMDb also lists a runtime of 2 hours and 16 minutes (136 minutes): https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088650/

I have a local digital copy from the DVD box of the entire documentary series and 28 Up has a runtime of 2 hours, 15 minutes and 32 seconds.

Wikipedia lists two air dates, and a total runtime of 136 minutes for 28 Up: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Up_(film_series)#List_of_films_and_premiere_dates It also specifically mentions in the first reference "28 Up, 42 Up and 49 Up premiered in 2 parts each, and 56 Up and 63 Up in 3 parts each, making a total of 16 parts", but regretfully without any further source mentioned: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Up_(film_series)#References It was added to the page on March 31, 2013 by user Saehrimnir and the relevant part has not been changed or removed since: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Up_(film_series)&oldid=548005683

And I know you do not use thetvdb as a source, but they have also always listed only two parts for the season: https://thetvdb.com/series/the-up-series/seasons/official/1984

Nowhere else could I find any source supporting "episode 3" being part of the season in the way it was added by user LV, outside of Prime Video's specific and (in my opinion) misleading way of listing it.

In conclusion, with all of the above taken into account, I would kindly ask you to delete the episode and maybe lock the season.

Thank you very much for your consideration and hard work.

Dear administrators,

Somebody re-added this episode, but the same arguments as I have provided before still hold true. Could you re-delete the episode and maybe lock the season? Thank you for taking this into consideration once again.
