What an unbelievably stupid comment that was!! I never even considered it to have anything to do with Erika's son being a police officer. It's stupid to say to anybody!!! And Eileen made it sound like it was a common saying? WTF But Erika saying no one else's kid is at risk of being killed was a little over-the-top. It could happen to anyone's kid. Not to diminish her fear but I thought that was weird for her to say.

I started a post regarding that scene as you did here.
To be perfectly honest, what Eileen said isn't an uncommon comment to make. I've heard it before.
People use it to emphasize someone's reaction to a particular situation that doesn't rise to occasion of someone's child dying. It's meant to show someone that they're being ridiculous or overreacting.
