I've been enjoying the 2012 season a lot, that's been airing on PBS stations in the States this summer. It's the final new (albeit from years back) season of the show that PBS is supposed to be airing, so will be sad to see it conclude next week.
Incidentally, I wonder why PBS never aired that particular season (which I believe is S4) prior to now. Whatever the reason, fortunately they finally are!
The Great British Bake Off (retitled The Great British Baking Show when aired in the US) always has been an upbeat, positive, thoroughly enjoyable series - and the baking results certainly routinely are highly irresistible!

Yes, I've set it up to record all seasons of that, and I guess the first episode of the current season just aired, although I haven't watched it yet.
Yes, I watched that series recently, and also the one I mentioned before, that Nadiya won. Now I'm watching near the end of what PBS calls "season 4" on the Create channel, and am also starting PBS's "season 5" on the main PBS channel. I believe that's the season that you said John won. (I'm still confused about season numbering in the UK, so I just use my local PBS stations' numbering in these posts.)

For sure, the zigzagged UK/US season numbers make things very confusing, as it's always hard to know what season is being referred to.
I'm wondering which season of TGBBO my secondary PBS station will start airing on this coming Sunday morning; it won't at all surprise me if they don't simply rerun the season I just finished watching, as that's what they did with the season John won: They reran it something like three full times, over the course of months, one episode each Sunday morning, before eventually then switching to airing masterclass and holiday edition special episodes (all also rerun multiple times) that were associated with that same particular season/year.
I enjoyed the season premiere of The Great American Baking Show: Holiday Edition last night, though of course with any season of the UK or the US series things always take a while to get going, then for us to start deciding who our faves are, the personalities coming out, etc. It appears that all this season will be 2-hours episodes (which each hour represents a different competition "week"). So I think the season may perhaps run just three weeks again.
That series' Season 5
