(I searched for another thread on this episode but didn't find one. Sorry if this a repeat.)
The IMF has to stop five million dollars from reaching a fictional dictator and his fictional island in the Bahamas.
We join the mission en prise, with Willie already infiltrating the enemy yacht and searching for a key to a safe deposit box while the rest of the gang languishes safely behind, monitoring his progress.
He gets caught, but makes an escape, jumping into the water and getting shot. Oh noes. Time for the rest of the team to get off their butts and do something.
It didn't slavishly follow the normal M:I formula, but I liked it.
An interesting storytelling technique was the cross cutting of a real interrogation being done on Willie and a hokey IMF style interrogation done on the bad guys. Later, we have a real escape by Willie cross cutted with an IMF engineered fake escape by Robert Webber (leading, naturally, to the safe deposit box key).
Fun throughout and suspenseful at points. Not vintage stuff, a good breezy breath of fresh air.

This outing shows a scene that reminded me of an observation Maria made.
Willie gets shot, but manages to swim to the shore of an island. He collapses on the beach. Someone approaches him. Will it be a beautiful woman who will nurse him back to health? Perhaps they will fall in love!
Nope. It's an enemy soldier pointing a rifle at him.
Willie just can't catch a break.

I was just going to watch The Deal so I could write my review, but for some reason I thought I'd check the board for new threads, and here you are (I hope that this doesn't sound too loopy, I just got out of the ER. They gave me a morphine and cortisone shots for severe pain in my right hip, the one I got replaced)!
Did you notice the bad guy's girlfriend? There's something special about her, but I'll mention it in my review.
I was thinking about what you said about how sometimes you see Mimi, then it's Casey in the next episode? One could say that Casey is appearing in the particular episode because she finished her current assignment in Europe, and was available for an assignment with her regular team.

Ouch. I hope the pain doesn't linger. I was lucky. My chronic pain issues pretty much went away after my double hip replacement. The doctors told me I'd never be able to do hundred mile bike rides again. I'm afraid they are right. That didn't stop me from trying. I believe them now. (Don't worry about sounding loopy. I am perpetually on the edge of being loopy and I thus can't judge. But if I did, I'd say you don't sound very loopy.)
All I noticed about the bad guy's girlfriend was that her fake eyelashes and makeup held up remarkably well considering that she was being incarcerated. That's par for popular entertainment, though. I'm sure you will have observed something much more interesting.
In this episode, Mimi asked when Casey will be back, and Jim said she is on a deep undercover assignment. In the next episode, Leona, though, Casey is right back with the team.
Maybe I should have watched them in production order. Too late now. I plan to get back to watching them. (I got caught up in the four part Vashon saga on Hawaii Five-O and neglected M:I for awhile. Maybe I should post some thoughts on that empty board over there.)

The bad guys girlfriend was played by Lana Wood, who played Plenty O'Toole in Diamonds Are Forever. I thought it was cool that a Bond Girl appeared in a Mission Impossible episode.

I'm pretty sure that Lana Wood also played Nicole, the girlfriend of George Saunders's bad guy character in the season five finale. I got so excited the first time I saw him in that episode! George Saunders is one of my favorite actors of all-time, and I was so happy that he won an Oscar for his role in my favorite movie of all time, All About Eve.
