Hi, I would like to start this show but I have some questions. I know it's made by Starz, shows of this cable network usually have amazing sets, directing and costumes. How are the costumes, the CGI, the settings in this show? I watch Black Sails and boy it seems so real.

The costumes are excellent. The CGI is very stylized sort of like the movie 300. Some of the sets are quite beautiful. This show has a much more surreal feel than Black Sails. Where Black Sails is very realistic, Spartacus is more like a graphic novel.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I've seen on IMDb that some episodes have very high ratings.

I am presently watching it for the fourth time, on Netflix. It has a lot of action, and a great cast.

It feels like a lower budget 300 at first. After the first 5 episodes it really takes off and becomes it's own beast. But it was a chore to sit through the beginning.
The CGI and sets all improve greatly over the course of the series.
I'm glad I stuck it out because it became one of my top 5 favorite shows ever.
