I'm pretty sure you hit the nail on the head. Bates Motel is actually a love story with a happy ending.

Mother and Norman will make out together, I'm sure of that. I think everyone will die within the last two or three episodes, ending with Marion.

I guess she put together him "leaving his car" at the gay bar and that he might "play for the other team". That's why she yelled at him, Mother style. Nice.
