Sure. This staton that houses the last known remnants of humanity is coming to it's definitive end and leadership has no way of stopping this event. They can only delay it at the cost of hundreds of lives. Tough spot. So what do they do? Send a hundred criminal kids ( this part of the premise is also beyond stupid) down to earth in order to find out whether its habitable again but they give them no way of actually delivering the information? Are these people retarded?

I didn't realise you were talking about the first episodes. (The word premise should have rung a bell...)
They did have communication devices in the craft that sent them to earth, but those were destroyed (or rendered unusable) after the crash landing. The Ark could monitor the 100 through the wristbands (and with the destroyed communication devices (can't remember what they were) and collect the info necessary to find out if earth was habitable.
From the leaders' point of view the 100 were dispensable. If they had instantly died of radiation exposure, no harm done. And the Ark would have known that earth was not an option.
Realism is not this show's strongest point. It gets worse. Season 4 was hell.
I only watched the first 6 episodes. It requires tremendous amounts of suspension of disbelief, the kids are annoying as hell but I'm a sucker for post apocalyptic stories. I'll finish the first season then decide if I'll continue or not. By the way if it's so terrible why are you watching it? :D

I'm a sucker for dystopian stories.
I could handle the first few seasons but was mostly disappointed by the last season. Not just the lack of realism (which becomes worse) but by the acting too. Usually, when I start something, I want to finish it... The last episodes of season four were better. So it looks like I'll be there when the fifth season starts.
